The first Doom 3 deathmatch championship and likely the last major Quake 3 1v1 championship are coming. Total prize money $150K. August 12-15 in Texas. I've been following these events since 2000. It's so much fun to watch world's best FPS players in action.

I read this news earlier, and that rumored August 3rd date seems more and more real as time passes. Not really id or Activision are going against the date hardcore, and Gamestop still has August 3rd as the "confirmed" release date (had it up for 2 weeks now).

Now, id is holding a Doom 3 tournament at their August 12-15th event. Surely they would not hold a tournament with so much prize money at stake with an incomplete product.
