Sweet. Reminds me of the time I had to explain the difference between the army and the navy to my mom.

Some clerk wanted to call the cops on me for passing counterfeit bills when I tried to pay with a $2 once.

I'm not sure where this originally came from, but I've seen it in various places over the past year or two. Still a funny read though. :)

I was always under the impression that they don't print the $2 bill anymore, so i'd rather spend the 50 and keep the 2 as a collector's item ...!

I was in line at Acme (think Albertson's) a couple years back, and a woman in front of me had a few main things (eggs, milk, bread etc.) and needed to pay in quarters. She had a roll or two, opened them, and began counting. The clerk says "we don't take those here, you'll have to use the coinstar"..theres a short argument between them, people are staring. Holy friggen crap did that piss me off...I let the clerk know what I felt, which is quarters are legal tender, they have to take them. theres no reason the woman should pay just to exchange her coins for cash. Finally a mgr comes over, accepts the quarters and the woman goes.

$2 Note Fact Sheet

The $2 denomination enjoys a rich tradition in American history. It first originated on June 25, 1776, when the Continental Congress authorized issuance of $2 denominations in "bills of credit for the defense of America." Under this authority, 49,000 bills of the $2 denomination were issued.

In 1928, the present size U.S. Note with the portrait of Thomas Jefferson, third U.S. President and author of the Declaration of Independence, was issued.

The Series 1963A note bore Jefferson on its face and Monticello on the reverse. The Series 1976 note features a portrait of Thomas Jefferson painted in the early 1800's by Gilbert Stuart and the back design is a vignette based on an engraved reduction of the painting, "The Signing of the Declaration of Independence," by John Trumbull. The Series 1976 note was printed to celebrate the U.S. Bicentennial.

On September 12, 1996, Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin was presented with a new series $2 bill. The 1995 series notes were printed at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing¹s Western Currency Facility and bear the seal of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. These notes carry the signatures of Secretary of the Treasury Robert Rubin and U.S. Treasurer Mary Ellen Withrow.

Additional Facts

590,720,000 Series 1976 $2 notes were printed. As of February 28, 1999, $1,166,091,458 in $2 notes were in circulation world-wide.

I got you beat. A customer came to my dock and bought 130 gallons of diesel last week end. When i went to ring him up, he comes walking up the pier with this huge wad of cash. He then proceeds to count out 138 one dollar bills. I can't complain though, he gave me a 5 dollar tip for the trouble
