Its too easy to get a license and too hard to lose one in the USA. Oh my god many American driver scare the living crap out of me. Lets see I was driving back home from a movie theatre today and here's what I've noticed. The guy behind me doesn't have his headlight on and the soccer mom in Chevrolet Suburban. A few min down the road, a group of college kids in VW Passat was being a loudy and missed a red light at an intersection as I watched him come to sqreeching halt in middle of the intersection then proceeds his way through a red from next to him. Then another college kid cuts his way diagonally across another intersection in front of me. I don't usually see this many horrible drivers and it was a very frightening experience. I don't think I've ever been able to drive for ten minutes without coming into a driver who I feel shouldn't be allowed to drive.

Did I mention taking a position as a pedestrian is scary in pool of ghetto drivers?

Actually I got hit by a 19y/o female driver last year. I wasn't hurt much, other than scraped knee and a raging anger. She tried to make it through yellow, as I was walking on cross walk, she tried to make it through yellow without even thinking I was walking. I jumped, got bouced by side of her car and fell on my ass.

her lame excuse: oh my gosh I am so sorry! I wanted to turn before it turned red. I'm in such a hurry and didn't look for you.

me: Where the hell are you looking when you drive?(in a very pissed off voice).

her: oh my god.. I am so sorry.....

me: may I see your driver's license, registration and proof of insurance please?

her: she unhappily hands it to me and I copy off her VIN as well

me: I am reporting this to DMV since I was injured as a result of your crappy driving and you're required by state law to report this.

her: please.. sorry... and starts crying... poor her
:disgust:

Today: Truck pulls out into on-coming traffic...I had to swerve across one lane and into the parking lane to avoid him. Then I get behind a lady in a caddy who all of a sudden starts braking for no reason. I contemplate passing, but then decide not to because I don't know if she's gonna turn left or what. Right as she begins to turn (she's slowed down to 5mph on a 45mph road) she puts on her right blinker. I pass and honk. Then I get behind a guy in a brand new dodge truck (you would think that a brand new truck would have working blinkers). Well, this guy changes lanes twice, once coming half way into my lane and then decides to go back in his lane - never signaling. He then makes a right turn where cars are waiting to come out - again no signal. I then take it upon myself to floor it past him and leave him in the dust just so I don't have to deal with his crap.

Last week on the way home: Lady stops in front of me at red light. Green TURN ARROW comes on (light still red), lady goes straight through as though the light had turned green! Two intersections up a guy runs the red light and stops 1/3 into the intersection, then backs up!

I was driving from Austin to Atlanta and it was pretty late in the night and I was nearly hit by 2 trucks because the drivers were 2 sleepy!!! Then the other day, a lady with some kids in her car driving at 70mph nearly opened her door in the middle of the frigging Interstate!

<< you lame ass - like people don't drive like an idiot across the world.... >>

He never said they didn't, dumbass. He's only referring, however, to stupid drivers of the USA, most likely because he's in the USA.

I said USA, because it takes almost nothing to obtain a license and it automatically becomes almost a right to keep it.

Written test? If you have enough reading and comprehension skill to pass a seventh grade English class and you actually read the handbook ahead of time you have no problem passing

Driving test?

You take a one session half hour driving test. If you can differentiate between red and green, can make turns as instructed and have enough judgement skill to jay walk without getting hit by a vehicle, you'll pass the test.

At the end you pay the DMV a cost of $100 or so and you go home with full previlage to operate a 3000lbs+ high velocity assault weapon.

Never a sufficient punishment for causing an accident. You hit someone, you pay them medical bill, the property damage and you're usually done unless someone got totally mangled up or died. No criminal charge..

In many other part of the word:

obtaining a license can cost as much as $3000+

a several behind the wheel course with a certified instructor is a MUST

you'll lose the license pretty easily for doing obnoxious things.

It's pretty bad where I live (college town, 50K+ students). Every morning I take my bike to class because parking is impossible, and the cars don't slow down before turning at the intersections when the walk signal is on. I must've had a dozen close calls in the past month, almost always involving punkass guys in SUVs/large pickup trucks.

I hate NY drivers, especially western NY. They all hog the left lane, and don't get out of your way when they are finished passing the car on the right. I'd pass them on the right (which is legal), but then I wouldn't be able to get back in the left lane. Michigan drivers are much better, they go faster, and it's possible to get around them. I like Canadian drivers (in Ontario anyway). They get over when you come up behind them.

I like to drive around 85-90 mph whenever I'm on an open, straight highway in good weather. I don't drive like a moron, nor do I endanger other drivers due to my speed. I am very careful of the weather, including wind, and I look far ahead to judge both traffic and road conditions.

Ohio drivers: EZ PASS lanes in NY are for EZ PASS tagholders (like me) only! There is no attendent, wait in line like everybody else. Same goes for NY drivers in older model black pickup trucks.

People with red Isuzu's: No U-turns means No U-turns, get off at the next exit and turn around there. On the way back from thanksgiving some idiot pulled a u-turn in heavy 80+ mph traffic, and stayed in the left lane!! He was 4 cars in front of me. By the time I reached him he must have been going only 40-45. I had to swerve hard to get around, I honked, flipped him off and then cut him off, like the 4 cars in front of me and the 5 cars behind me. The sad thing is, the right lane was open enough for him to safely get over and accellerate without causing such a hazard.

Pot calling the kettle black. It would be two different things if he said "of Spain" rather than "of USA". I don't see why you need to flame him - I think it's pretty obvious that the bad drivers of the USA are a different kind than the bad drivers of a lot of other countries, especially with the soccer-mom mid-life crisis SUV fetish cut you off talking on thier cell phone drivers...

From my experience, the US drivers are especially bad - because they fail to do sh|t like "ONLY FVCKING PASS IN THE LEFT LANES!!!"

The left lane is for PASSING ONLY!!!

Ahh, that reminds me - there was some chick holding up traffic on the freeway in her minivan...in the left lane. She didn't even get it when I swerved around her really quick and tight...I don't think she ever moved over for as long as she was in my rearview...

The only reason I can drive without experiencing any morons is because sometimes I am out at 4 in the morning when there is no one else around.

Well, USA may be a dangerous place when comes to being a pedestrian. But in Sweden there's just no end to the hazards in traffic!

According to law, every motorist are to stop at a zebracrossing if a pedestrian is about to cross. The town, to where I recently moved, it however seems to be a whole different lawsystem. Set your foot off the sidewalk and you pull back a numb!

I'm trying to stay indoors as much as possible from now on...

You've obviously never been to France. It is completely insane.

I can't argue that there aren't plenty of terrible drivers on the road in the US, too, though.

not sure I understand, you were walking across the cross walk before the light turned Red? That means that the little picture of the guy saying it's okay to walk wasn't up yet. meaning you were walking against the light, making it actually more your fault.

or was she turning a corner on a yellow light and you were crossing the cross walk, in which case, the little sign that says don't walk would have been up also.... since most cross walks give you about 10 seconds to get across the road..

please, explain better if i'm not understanding this.

Its a PITA to explain here, because ASCII diagram doesn't work well here.

I was crossing before before the pedestrian signal indicated orange "STOP" and I was about ready to make it to other side when she turned into me. The pedestrian light was parallel with the direction she was driving and ped. signal and auto signal that is parallel to each other is often green simultaneously. She made a right on yellow 90degree to the direction of pedestrian signal. You're supposed to make sure there is no pedestrian crossing before you proceed to turn through signalled cross walk. Sort of like you're supposed to yield to oncoming traffic when you turn left.

It may be different in other countries.

The US has plenty of idiots on the road, but it is *nothing* compared to European drivers--they are insane!! Stop lights, stop signs, speed limits, one-way streets are all literally meaningless as far as they are concerned. It is definitely far harder to get your license over there, but once you have it in your grasp pretty much anything goes. I can't tell you how many times I saw people driving on the sidewalk to pass up traffic jams, while pedestrians dove for cover.
