Amd must have officially dropped them because none of my suppliers anywhere can get them!!

I'm hearing of all kinds of new stuff coming out, but I really needed a cheap AM2 CPU now. :(

What's the deal! Do you know?

I haven't seen any am2 semprons. Amd priced them almost as high as the regular athlons, so some dealers don't even offer them. I would go with regular am2 or the old socket 754 sempron.

I'm under the impression (from what I've found) that anything lower than 3400+ is end of line.

Supposedly, the s754 version has another year before it hits EoL. Those should be in the retail pipeine. The AM2 version just isn't selling to the enthusiast market, unless or until it's special- ordered.

I  my Sempron64 3100+ running at 2.6Ghz. :)

It's no longer in my main desktop and has been moved to my server/backup system. After seeing some of Zap's results, it seems as though the AM2 Sempron overclocks are amazing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see amd rebranding semprons as lower number modeled athlons. The 3600+ x2 was only supposed to have 256KB cache per core.

Still got AM2 Semprons in the UK ,though I see their not much less than an Athlon 3200 ,only £8!
The S754 Semp 2800 is only £23!:Q ,bit of a dead end platform though :p ,ok for real budget PCs I guess.

:D Got both my AM2 2800+ (1.6GHz) to run Prime at around 2.9GHz, but using some crazy voltage. This was on an Abit mATX board at around 360MHz HTT thereabouts.

hehe - yeah plenty :D Scan have the AM2 2800+ around £28 - so £5 more for people who want to have DDR2 and a chance to upgrade to something alot better down the line.

I  Sempys. Deployed a few 2800+s OCed to 2.2 - 2.4GHz PCI-E / AGP socket-754 rigs on the stock HSFs. Can't beat that price/perf ratio. :D

Awesome overclock! :Q
What voltages are you using to get that?

My 2nd ,a S754 AGP has got a Semp 3100 @ 2.52 GHz (1.45v) :) ,doesn't quite match yours though.
