Picked up EA sports' F1 challenge '99-'02, and it HAS A CLUTCH!!! At first it kinda sucked because all the assisting options were on, but then i turned them all off and its so rad its frustrating yet extremely rad. Now if only my wheel had a 3rd petal...

Uh, how the hell does that work since there's no clutch-like input device on the computer?

Good, now go here, download the client, and prepare to get your ass kicked.

There's also a ton of mods for that game.

Oh hey BTW now can you earn your manhood now with just a game instead of buying a manual ;) (dedicated to NFS ;) )

Lots of games have the clutch implemented. Papyrus' Nascar Racing 4/2002/2003, Grand Prix Legends, Viper Racing Series, F1 2001/2002, Grand Prix 3. Any game that claims to be a "true" racing sim SHOULD have a clutch modeled. Somes games model it better than others, with the Nascar series and Grand Prix Legends being the best out there.

But let me tell you, if you can drive onw of the cars in Grand Prix Legends at full realism with no driving aids, then you really know what you're doing. The games models the Golden age of Grad Prix racing in the 60's, when the cars were little more than bathtubs with huge motors slapped on. No wings, no downforce, no ABS, tires that were hard as hell and could last you 3 or more full races. Just you and the car. Truely a synergy between man and machine.

I can't drive one of those things more than a lap without wrecking. I suck at teh Grand Prix.

Back in the 70's there was an arcade game that had a clutch. I forget the name, but it wasn't a true video game, the car was an actual plastic car and the race track scrolled along underneath it. You sat down in a real looking cockpit and it had a real 4 speed H-gate shifter and a real clutch so you could stall it just like a real car. Needless to say it mostly collected dust as the average arcade goer had no clue how to drive a manual transmission.

Does anyone know a good pedal/wheel setup that is more economical than the ACT LABS model?

My brother has an Act Labs wheel and its most definately woth the money. He just had some cheap one before that we got from sams club or something. The Act Labs has a clutch and is very realistic.
