2%, 70% yeah I can see how you could get confused. Seriously, the fact that your grower doesn't pay attention to what his association does on his behalf doesn't mean squat.
If you'd read rather then glanced at the PDF from The National Christmas Tree Association.
http://www.christmastree.org/11_PR7.pdf
Here's where it says:
"This program was requested by the industry in 2009 and has gone through two industrywide
comment periods during which 565 comments were submitted from interested parties.
More than 70% of the growers posting comments, and nearly 90% of the state and multi-state
associations that posted comments indicated that they were in favor of the program."
565 comments from interested parties, that's with 2 different comment periods.
of those 565 comments (not all from growers of course)
70% from growers were positive. That's not 70% of the growers, that's 70% of less then 565 comments. The National Christmas Tree Association has over 5,000 growers. In the United States there are more than 21,000 Christmas tree growers.

So the facts are that a very small percentage of growers approved of this fee on the much larger majority. It really shouldn't make any difference to the Democrats here since they really like that idea, but a lot of people think its pretty screwed up when it happens.
