Went up 12% again (monthly premiums)
Deductable went up $1500.

Employer said they might drop health insurance all together SOON.

Mind you, I'm already paying over $400 a month for ONLY me and my wife (kids are on state).
$428 me, wife, kid....$10K deductible.

I use a high deductible plan and an HSA. Rates went up 10% this year. As long as we insist on maintaining the employer-based private health insurance scheme we're going to continue to get hosed.

SO instead we'll let the govt manage it and my taxes will go up. Thanks I'll take my employee health care as at least I'm only paying for me there.

Yes, taxes will go up. And you won't have an insurance premium. Between what I'm paying and what my employer is paying, premiums are more than my federal income tax. The benefits paid are less than 30% of the premium cost. So the insurance company is pocketing the bulk of the money. I'd like to take my chances with a single payer system. The current system is a failure, a failure this nation simply can not afford to continue with; it costs too much and is destroying American competitiveness.

I could care less what my employer pays. What i know is that as a single person I pay $1,440 per year for insurance. If we do single payer its likely my taxes would go up at least 5-7% (conservatively - I think 10% is not out of the question) which now means I'm paying a hell of a lot more each year for insurance. Look at the tax rates for people in coutnries like Canada. No thank you.

Additionally, you do realize there are many many not for profit insurance companies out there right? And even for profit companies only make 2-3% margin typically. It's simply not a very profitable industry. Pharmas on the other hand tend to average about 25-30% profit.

European countries are really hurting under the stain of national healthcare. Considering our land mass in the US it would be even worse. There is a reason why every healtchare professional hates medicare/medicaid. It's not efficent or effective but somehow they wlil manage something 10x larger. No thanks.

Regardless, your taxes will be going up in coming years. How else do you think all the debt will be paid off (that our politicians decided to spend ahead of time).

Welcome to ass orgy America.

That's a separate issue entirely. What I don't need is a permanent 10% increase so that I can pay for my insurance and probably 4-5 others.

We have been warned that premiums will be going up 15% this year on our HD/HSA due too health care law changes. That would $575/month for the wife and kids with a $5k deductible.

Maybe DC can get around to doing some real reform...

I have to the tune of an extra $120 per pay period. blech.

The more important question is what happened with your Dr appointment?

Placed on insulin. Still taking my original medication as well. My blood sugar level reached 600 and my a1c was an all time high of 15.3.

I was a walking timebomb. I had lost 40 pounds though. 😀

Mine dropped for 2013 by 1.50 per paycheck.

I guess that's nice, but it's one of those bullshit HRA plans where you have a piggy back that could eventually run out.
