OMG, MY GIRLFRIENDS MONITOR STARTED ON FIRE!!!

Lifer
a 15" PiXie monitor! This bad boy is abnout 8 years old, and it servered me well.

I was watching TV while she was on AIM and she said something smells like gas. Being the caring boyfriend, i made a crack about her flatulence. I got up and smelled it too. At fire i thought it was the christmas tree, but that was fine. Then i moved closer to the computer and smelled it more. I sniffed the case and it was fine, then i moved up to the monitor and it reeked of burning wires.

I threw it on the porch, and now i have to buy a new monitor...

what! i thought it was burning up in flames! that would've been cool 😎
and no pictures of the wires melting?

BOOUNRS!!

😉

LOL.. 🙂

I have had something similar happen, except it was a computer that was smoking.

Now that you have an old monitor, what are going to do to it? How about tkae your frustratoin against it. My friends did so, and boy that that old packard bell monitor didnt shatter even after being pounded with a rock.

i'm gonna take it apart tomorrow, but its too dark right now.

My roommate had a 15" monitor (can't remember the model but it was badged Gateway) that spontaneously combusted too. A not-too-computer-literate friend of mine was checking mail and stocks on it while I and my roommate were out of our room. We came back to see a big bright orange flame burning in the monitor. Weird thing is, the guy using the monitor didn't look too concerned about it, as the monitor was STILL WORKING!. We quickly unplugged it and got rid of it. Our hall reaked of burning plastic for about a week. The worst thing about it was, when we asked our friend why he didn't do anything about it, he replied "I thought you guys might have programmed it to do that or something."

LOL! What a misleading title. 😀

Anyway, my monitor flaked out on me too. It was a Pixie 17" monitor. Coincidence? I doubt it. It was only a month since I began using it that I suddenly smelled something burning and the screen went blank. I was scared fire would start even, at least the smell made me think so 😱 Anyway, I was covered by the warranty. Those who repaired iit claimed it was some LED, I think, problem. It was fixed within minutes, but it was too late 'cuz I had already bought another way more expensive monitor! 🙁

HEHE, I have a 17in Pixie monitor and it crapped out on me twice within 2 months. One time it must have short circuited cuz I smelled smoke and the other time the minitor just turned green, than eventually died. Still got about 2 years left on warrantee though 🙂

I'm disappointed... Wanna see some burnin' plastic. I thought fire meant exothermic chemical reaction with emission of light?

Looks like he's been the victim of one too many dorm-computer pranks, eh? And I guess you had nothing to do with that? 🙂

Uh oh...

I have one of those too. The exact same, a Pixie 15" monitor that I bought about a year ago. It hasn't done anything odd yet, but I guess it's good I have a fire extinguisher near my workspace. 🙂
