The dog is trying to dominate you because it hasn't learned its proper place in the pack. Unless you send clear, consistent signals that this behavior is not acceptable the dog will continue this behavior and be more difficult to handle in other ways.

Amazing what passes for news these days.
>>

LOL..."In other news, Coke has defeated Bruce Lee in an upset victory! When asked what he felt about the match, Mr. Lee responded, 'Waaaaaaaaatahh! Need...Brisk...' This reporter is speechless...in attendance was EricNKrout, seen with Anna Kournikova, and Osama Bin Laden, who in a drunken stupor, repeated the mysterious word "Nef"...perhaps this is of some relevance to the US?"

:D

It's not really all that rare. I don't think domesticated dogs really understand that you're not a dog, or it's not a human.

Dogs do this all the time when they are young, and even some older ones. It is more of an attempt to be dominent over you than anything sexual.

Sure they can. That is why it isn't sexual in nature. It is a dominating tactic they are trying on you. Sometimes you will even see male dogs humping male dogs. Same kind of thing. This usually results in dog fighting or at least snapping and growling.

My friend's dog is hump-happy. I brought a friend over to the friend with the hump-happy dog's house, and the dog took turns with either of our legs. I cracked up, but my friend was not amused.
