omg...it's called an auction...do it.

They would probably make more money selling it than it cost them to trash it.
 
It's a grey market car (I think) here in the US so they probably couldn't sell it. Still, I've never heard of someone's car being taken away and crushed for driving infractions.....WTF is with that? Wouldn't they just give the guy some jail time to calm him down? How bout some details on why AZ whacked the car?

I seem to remember the story behind that one really being "it was a test vehicle in Arizona doing the high heat testing, by law they were required to either crush it or pay taxes on it."
 
yeah...I was a little confused why that would be coming from AZ considering the Skyline isn't even available in the states yet....however watching that beautiful machine be crushed is very sad.

Skylines are illegal in he US anyways, so if someone actually had the money to import one and mod it to US standards, why would parking tickets even be an issue?? Anyone who can afford this car would consider a parking ticket pocket change

That's what I think too...sounds like this guy made a corny story up. I've seen these pics somewhere before, and they weren't on his site, so I don't see why he's talking about copyrights from him
 
its a repost..from way back.
however if I am right the cars arent the same.. I remember the last time aroudn the controversy was over the wheels being slightly different.

Yeah, the story on that link is pure bunk. I've seen this pictures over a year ago, and it had nothing to do with parking tickets. Gotta be pretty gullible to believe that one.

The story was, as someone pointed out, the car was not certified to be operated in the US. Crash tests, emissions, OBDII, etc etc. Choices were between certifying it ($$$), sending it back ($$$), or crushing it. Something along those lines.
 
Oh well, one less rice rocket on the street. That car reminds me of this yellow tricked out Prelude that's always in my school's parking lot - it had a lot of work done to it and it looks pretty similar to that Skyline.

That's why I called it a rice rocket, not a ricer. You don't call a Civic DX w/ intake and exhaust a rocket, do you? I'd call a Mustang with a blown 351 running 8's a rocket. I know Skyline's are fast - I just don't like them.

Rice rocket? Skylines are some of the respectable Japanese cars out there. THey'll smoke anything you throw at it. Stock.
