Hmmm, in the last thread on this thing, I pointed out that OEMs HP claims are always inflated, but after seeing that they actually have made substantial changes to the motor for this year, I'll be interested in seeing what it actually makes. Could be a significant boost.

180 is with the air box pressurized... so you're probably flying by the time you get it up to that. :D IIRC... rated without the ram air effect was 172 or something like that. Still enough to kill you though... :) Its probably making 155-160 at the wheel.

Too bad its 180 at the crank not the rear wheel and I dont doubt Yamaha is blowing it a little out of proportion. Still quite powerful though I have a project to make a lightweight race car (DSR) and im still deciding between the GIXXER or R1 engine :p

Still, there can't be that much drivetrain loss.

I'm guessing power at the wheel is right where the Gixxer is.
