I get some games here and there. Mainly CS, HL2DM, and COD2.

Well it's summer now so I've just been working. Lots of free time to go short tracking.

Edit: But enjoy.

Sure it would depreciated quickly, but keep in mind I didn't pay full price. I only paid $225 after selling my 7900GTX for $380.

$605 shipped three day select from Newegg. I live in CA and I didn't want to pay like $60 in taxes, so my good buddy in Wisconsin accepted my package and sent it back priority mail. I saved over $50 by doing that. In fact, if I make big purchased fron Newegg, I'm going to be doing the same thing.

605?? damn wish i had 605 laying around so i can buy one too.

Very nice. I still have just an X800XT, works well for what I do with it (almost nothing anymore). Problem is when I moved I sold my box, yanked the harddrives and the video card, and dropped them into my wife's box, which is a P4 2.4C with only 512MB of memory :(...kinda underpowered, and even with stuff turned all the way down I still get lag now and then due to the CPU bottleneck. Soon enough I'll fix it.

Waste of money. Like you'll actually be able to tell the difference between that and a mid priced card unless you're running a benchmark program.

You wanted a new video card, and you feel that working three jobs is the way to go???

You sound like you're pretty young, athletic, and you're not tied down to a relationship. Why not hire yourself out as an "escort" for $600/night?? :D

wow... never would think of blowing $600 on a video card.... ~$200 is the top I'm willing to go, especially when I'm saving up for a new car.

Well, actually, I've never spent an entire $600 on a video card.

It all started with a 5900. At the time, it was $450. I bought it for $200 and it was a BFG model. That thing crapped out on me and I got warranty for it. Since they didn't have 5900s anymore, they send me a 6800GT instead to replace it. Then the 7800 GTXes came out and I sold my 6800GT for $300 and bought that card for $580 using the $300 to recycle that cost. Then the 7900 GTXes came out and I sold my old 7800 GTX for $300 and bought the new 7900 GTX for only $418! So that was only about $118 to upgrade. Now I got the 7950GX2 for $605 and the 7900 GTX is being sold for $380.

So all in all, I would never pay the full price...unless I want to go Quad SLI which I might do.

Let's see:

200+
300-
580+
300-
418+
380-
605+
====
823 + taxes/shipping

for however long you started the upgrade path.

Let's see:

200+ (Buy 5900 -> warranty 6800GT)
300- (sell 6800GT)
580+ (Buy 7800 GTX)
300- (Sell 7800 GTX)
418+ (Buy 7900 GTX)
380- (Sell 7900 GTX)
605+ (Buy 7950 GX2)
====
823 + taxes/shipping

for however long you started the upgrade path.

Buy: 200 + 580 + 418 + 605 = 1803
Sell: -(300 + 300 + 380) = 980
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total: 823

.... check your math, its $423 out of pocket

did i miss some number?

You could say that, but I do short track speedskating in my spare time. And yes I'm single so I spoil myself from time to time. Haven't dated in about 3 years now after my old gf. So after I broke up I decided to concentrate and advance my career. I now work three jobs and last fall I was taking 24 units (I attend a university for academic BS classes and a community college for technical training) with 2 jobs and in the spring 20 units with 3 jobs.

:thumbsup:
Good job
