OMG! Interracial squirrel breeding!

During my health walks through the park, I often see black, red or grey squirrels but today I saw a black squirrel with a red tail! Someone's been dipping into the other gene pool. 😀

I did not carry my camera today because of the intermittent rain. Wish I had. All the good stuff happens when I leave my camera home.

That's a striking squirrel :^)

There's one small area about 10 miles from my house that has black squirrels. That's the only place I've seen them in my area. I prefer the black to the grey. It might just be a familiarity thing.

I like the ears on the red squirrel.

Me too. We have the gray kind here, and they are fun to watch. Haven't seen that type of red squirrel in person.

Yea, I accidentally ran over a squirrel on my road bike while in college. He kept darting back and forth on the sidewalk, trying to decide which direction to flee -- I kept going straight.

Bump-bump. I ran over him and he started chasing me, barking.

We have an albino squirrel on campus, and I saw it today. Cool thing.

Yea, the first albino I saw freaked me out. Then the other squirrels attacked, killed, and ate it ...
