All pickup truck commercials are terrible.

Gruff, low-voiced man: You want a truck. A big truck. Bigger than everyone elses. You want a truck that will out-haul, out-pull, out-run-over-pedestrians. Not because you have any use for a truck, but because you're a MAN. Be MANLY. Buy [Ford/Chevrolet/Dodge].

So you know dodge doesn't sell trucks anymore.

I'm sick of all truck commercials. They're all basically the same: some burly-voiced Southern man narrating while showing cowboys working on a ranch, or construction workers on the job.

Trucks are used for other things, but commercials don't show it.

Women drive trucks, but commercials don't show it.

Minorities drive trucks, but commercials don't show it.

If you guys would buy more fucking Chevy trucks already, they wouldn't have to advertise. Just to stop this crap, I went out and bought 2 this week. If everyone has a Chevy truck, they won't need to advertise as much.

On the contrary, not only does driving a minivan prove a guy has balls, it proves they work!
:p

Or that they used to work before being hidden under a dusty couch along with so many other lost and forgotten toys. But either way they definitely worked at some point, that's true.

What's a Honda Fit mean, broke white guy? I'm probably going to have something like that for my next car, small and easy to park, cheap, good headroom (believe it or not), and good mileage. Right now I have a 17 year old Lincoln Towncar that I've had for the last 9 years, and I'm getting pretty tired of its crap.

Bull. That would be direct feedback that their advertising is extremely effective.
Stage 2: Advertise to make sure you're buying a new one every year. No more of this "drive it into the ground" crap. The next ad campaign will focus on encouraging society look down on that kind of mentality.

Don't forget to sign up for an extended warranty, and also get plenty of the optional add-on packages.

All I think when I see those commercials is that they can't compare it to other trucks.

The truck commercials I understand. The only men I know in real life who fit the pickup stereotype are tradespeople who need them and use them for toy hauling too.

What commercials bug me are the Lincoln ones with Matthew Mcconaughey where he is stoned out of his mind thinking he's speaking profound statements. They're so horrible I thought I was catching a parody of one the other day that turned out to be a new one

They have to advertise the crap out of it because no man in their right mind has much use for a truck that weak.
I would kill that thing..the 1st day.

Remember the Chevy truck commercial from last year with the Kid Rock "Born Free" song playing over and over an over again for about six months? I hate Chevy so much for that I'd never buy one of their damn trucks. And as far as this one goes - screw them twice. I'd rather be the guy with the Honda and the Carpenters song playing on the radio.

I personally thought the commercial where the TV appeared to die was fantastic. It was right near the start of the game and I was like "WTF, what just happened to my TV!"

Brilliant.

i am a decidedly-not-broke white guy and i love my honda fit :awe:

37 mpg average, fits my whole bike or golf clubs or a plethora of other crap in the back, and only 17$k brand new

i plan to use this as my daily driver until 2025, then see what is available then. hopefully my next car will be electric (and able to fly).

Actually this year they cut the middle (gruff) man and just had women making fun of car guy pensis:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzP2yzrKl28

"This is definitely the guy your mom wants you to marry," one astute observer notes, indicating the dude in front of the responsible sedan, "and this is the guy you're going to run off to and leave him to be with him."

no penis at all = minivan / Prius

Hey!

I drive a minivan and laugh at those useless short bed trucks. I figure my minivan has accomplished more manly tasks than most of those garage queen trucks could dream of.

If I need to buy 4x8 sheets of plywood or drywall, I fold the seats down, load the material, close the gate, no problem.

If I need to buy some 10' boards, I load them in the center, resting on the center console, close the trunk and go, no problem. (I've even carried some 12' items resting on the dashboard with the gate closed.

A few 14' and 16' deck boards, I load them on the roof rack.

A short bed pickup would be better if I had to transport manure. So, I guess if your life is crap, buy a short bed pickup.
