maybe you could bend a paperclip (in a figure 8) around the two pins, trim off the excess and put a layer of tape around it to ensure it doesn't short to any other pins.
(or run the HD as master with no jumper as that is the default for some drives)

Got an old drive or old mobo you could pull one off of? I usually have some old PII/III board hanging around that has a bunch of them waiting to be harvested. Tin foil or thin wire sounds like a possible idea as well.
