I need to know if you can ghetto rig a jumper shunt out of something... as in something you can find around the house. Any ideas?

anything conductive would work.

maybe you could bend a paperclip (in a figure 8) around the two pins, trim off the excess and put a layer of tape around it to ensure it doesn't short to any other pins.

(or run the HD as master with no jumper as that is the default for some drives)

(even aluminum foil but make SURE it doesn't touch any of the other pins)

If you don't have any spares, go to your local electronics or computer store and buy the smallest pack of them you can find. You only need one.

Got an old drive or old mobo you could pull one off of? I usually have some old PII/III board hanging around that has a bunch of them waiting to be harvested. Tin foil or thin wire sounds like a possible idea as well.
