OMGWTF AM I GOING TO DO?!?! I CANT THINK UNDER THIS PRESSURE!

Ok, now that THATS out of the way. Submitted my separation request earlier this morning. Theres a near 100% chance I was facing either a lay off or a rebadge (outsourcing, except they outsource YOU and not your job) within the next few months.

To hell with that I say. I'm not going to sit around waiting to be shoved out the door, I'm walking out of my own accord.

Fortunately as soon as I heard that something would happen to us I srarted looking and have something in the works already. And so off to start a new chapter in the book so to speak!

Line up a job before you leave. If you cant find one right away (there are lots of stories of very qualified people not finding anything right now), and quit too early, you wont be eligible for unemployment benefits if needed.

Definitely good advice. Unemployment is a great resource when you really need it. Unfortunately they probably won't let you retract your resignation, so you are probably SOL in terms of unemployment. Good luck in any event.

Wow. Quitting is for quitters. 🙂

Seriously though, you just killed any chance of unemployment you had. Good luck!

Thanks guys. Already got something lined up. Its what I would consider an opportunity of a lifetime type of thing. I'm really excited and looking foward to it. 🙂

You're a bad liar. We're going to see you on the news tomorrow about that crazy guy that god laid off and shot up his office and even shattered the office coffee pot.

i must be jaded because everytime i hear or read "opportunity of a lifetime" or "great learning experience" all i can think is someone is about to take a big shit on you.

so what the new job? i'd like to be proved wrong.

Good luck!

My parents are losing 2/3 jobs come May so I understand the concern 🙁

wow... there's a lot of layoff threads....

as i'm doing my tax right now...on pto, i can't help but think that i could be next....
need to save up the standard six month paychecks for rainy days.

Yes, this is a very good idea. It's funny how people are budgeting now and planning for financial emergencies.

That is the first thing that came to my mind when I read this post.
