Called tech support, just to get an RMA for a bad power supply...
1 hour on hold, and 45 minutes on the phone, the tech support guy had me completely disassemble the computer (right down to removing the RAM), the tech support guy then pronounced my MB as dead.

Shocked and dismayed, I figured what the heck... popped in a new power supply and... suprise! Tech support guy sounded knowledgeable enough, but didn't seem to understand me when I told him how to test a power supply. "Listen, I tested it and it's dead." "Well, there's still a chance that it's the MB" "wtf? The power supply doesn't work when it's removed from the computer and tested... even when it's not connected to the MB. " Oh well.

I only hope you never have a frustrating experiance as i have and MANY OTHERS. Look at the majority of voters all in the last 2 slots of the poll that is just more proof of how others feel the same as i do.

Email. Always prompt and no hassle. Email takes 5 minutes of your time and you don't have to stay on hold for them.

Phones are for dummies.

i hate Dell also . . . their CS truly sucks especially when you get the polite but totally INeffective New DeLLhi morons.

i had an inspiron notebook with problems . . . until a forum member got me a mid-level manager's email - i kept getting the run around and round and round

and e-mail isn't any better than phone calls . . . they'd NEVER reply.

There is NO accountability in this G-D company. One CS tells you one thing and another contradicts him.

IMO, dell can go to hell

i know some people love them - IF you have no probems. HOWEVER, Dell is "great" compared to Gateway. :p

Dropped calls?

What do you expect? You're calling half the way around the world to a third world country where telephone lines are patched up with duct tape!

4th monitor, and it was obviously used, judging from the dust on the back, and guess what NASTY BACKLIGHT problems. I dont know if i can handle round 5. It took me 40 minutes to get them to replace it with a non refurb, god help me. Just give me what I paid for.

Oh one last thing my brother got a 2400fpw and made up some B.S. to get a $75.00 coupon. WTF 20 hours on the phone I think I earned a working monitor and a discount.

some of you people must be idiots. I deal with Dell and HP both almost daily in our large installation. The longest part of my calls is waiting for the dispatch number. Most parts are at reception the next morning.

More than likely you are not explaining the problems properly or hiding thing you have done already...or trying to scam a deal / return of something for a silly issue, I can't see how a company like Dell would have the clueless on the phone.

Only some of Dell's CS is in India, I believe all of HP's is.

Backlight issues on the stupid monitor, 4 times in a row I'm past the 21 day "return period" so I?m stuck with the monitor and they keep refusing an exchange citing the original purchase date not the date of my last exchange. So stfu, I'm not an idiot.

Yup, that's it. It was OUR fault they shipped us the wrong laptop and then said that the number didn't exist. Then when the battery died on the RIGHT laptop, they sent us a battery for the wrong one. Out of probably 8 calls, I'd say all 8 were bad.

Dell handles people with large volumes of purchase differently than those with joe consumer. Once you pass a certain number of systems purchased on our account, the scripted troubleshooting goes right out the window. That, and home support is different than small business support which is different than enterprise support. Home users get shortchanged by default, small business gets okayish, enterprise is treated like gods.

Dell Customer Services reminds me of a bad movie, a total waste of time, hours nothingness that I can never get back.

What is Dell's tech support email? Or is it only Web-based?

Also, if you have the direct contact info for a helpful supervisor, PM me. :)

Just got off the phone with Dell TS. Hold time about 20 mins. Spent nearly 40 mins on the phone for the rep to confirm Bluetooth is defective on my Inspiron. Unfortunately, I have to send it in for depot service (I was hoping the part would be self-replaceable).
