OMG! I am pissed! Never thought I would have done this. 640*480 on GTA3

Before I got my hands on the GTA3 every single game I came across I played alot of action games I have consistently played at 1024*768*32 on my Geforce2 GTS with 1gig rig. So, you can kinda tell I am not a big fan of high fps or cant play type of guy. However, now after several days of fiddling with the GTA3 I have now decided that I just cant go on with 800*600 anymore. The inconsistent and low frame rate is really bothering me to down graded to such a low low resolution. Rockstar must have brilliant engineer there to port this game. I never thought that this day would come so soon.
By the way, I have also noticed that GTA3 is also much more sensitive with overclocking, it crashes more often even at what I consider a safe O/C

LOL, not possible they are perfectly content with this PC and I am the one is now responsible for everything I own.

I also have 512ram guess that doesnt even matter on this game.

i have a duron 800, 512MB PC133, Geforce256 DDR that runs GTA3 at 1024x768x16. detail isnt set to high, but it plays fine.

Sounds like you are having some software/video problems. Reinstall the game, or reformat if you dare b/c w/ your rig, you shouldn't be having any slowdowns even at 1024x768 let alone 800x600.

There is nothing you can do. There is a problem with GTA 3 that has yet to be identified. I use 640x480 and the game doesn't run well at all.

1.4GHz Tbird
GeForce 2 GTS
512MB PC2100

I'm having a Radeon DDR 32MB (first Gen Radeon), 256MB PC133 SDRAM and a T-bird 700 non-overclocked and I have some major slowdowns while playing with 640x480x32.

I just got the game today... I play at 1024 w/ a tbird 900 and gf2 gts-v. Frame rates are fine (without trails), game is cool, I'm going to go play some more, it's only 4am. 😀

I run it fine at 1024x768

My rig:

1.33ghz T-Bird
Geforce 3
512mb DDR RAM

Some people with the same rig as me have a lot of problems. Really weird that for soem it doesn't work, while for others it runs fine.

Mine seems to run a little bit slow when it's raining and there are a lot of cars on the road.

Perhaps I should do that "without trails" trick.. it's supposed to help a lot

oh, and I'm running 1024, 16bit on a 733 pIII w/ 640ram

I have an AMD T-Bird 700Mhz, 512RAM and GF2 GTS 32MB card....

GTA3 runs OK at 1024x768x32 for me as well... There's occasionally slow-down, but nothing that would really affect the gameplay... I have tried turning it down to 1024x768x16 but that doesnt seem to make much of a difference...

P41.6A@2.24Ghz, GeForce2 GTS 64MB, 512MB RAM

I can get it to run pretty good at 800x600 with low detail. I'm pretty disappointed. I really like the game. I hope they come out with some kind of patch or something soon.

The GTA3 screensaver wouldn't run on that thing... 😉
