Wow thats slim but for $3000+ not worth it. I'll buy a thicker notebook at half the cost.

Wowzers...I just can't imagine anything thinner and lighter and as functional as a Thinkpad T40 though...

Would you trust someone from upper management to use something like that, especially if they were not very computer literate.

Being able to thin down and mould lithium batteries around the other parts of the laptop is such a cool technology.

I don't think the keyboard would be all that great on this laptop.

Here is my IDEAL portable laptop:

[Homer mode enaged]

$2000 or less

13.3 or 14.1" SXGA
Centrino 2.0 or faster
Built in 802.11b/g
512MB RAM
40GB HD
Combo DVD Burner/CD-RW
ATI 9600 graphics
Almost 100% full sized keyboard
Two USB 2.0
One FireWire
DVI
Modem/NIC
3 pounds with optical drive

[/Homer mode STILL enaged]

I think the Dell 300m and IBM x series come close.

I saw someone who had one like that, but it was slightly bigger. Personally, I think they are just too small.

Schweet!

The main problem though is the damn keyboards. They're not full size. PITA.

Garbage. I'd like somthing similar in size and weight to the Compaq 1200 series (Celerons and K6's), but they don't make anything that big anymore (Well, Apple does, but I ain't payin for that)

I'd also KILL for a laptop that accepts full size harddrives, a single AGP, and a single PCI card (Even if they have to totally sacrafice battery power)

Both of these could be achieved by thickening a 1200 series by half an inch. How difficult is half an inch extra to carry around? I've practically resigned myself to never owning a laptop, because there is NO production over the 'Wow, I'd use it. TO PICK MY TEETH' size.

You obviously have no clue what is available in the laptop market.

BTW that Sony is using two year old technology.... and charging 3k for it casue it's smaller.

I've been shopping for 6 months. Laptops that meet my excessive criteria simply do not exist, and the only laptops that meet my size requirements are $3000 desktop replacement models that can't physically fit in a smaller space. And all I need it for is to haul data from one place to another and act as a disk imaging terminal (Which you can't do with a cruddy little 20 gig laptop harddrive)

Now if you have any suggestions as to what is available, I'm all ears.
