WOW, Did I have fun today. Just came from mazdarevitup here in Miami. It's an event/competition where u get to race in the Mazda's 6 series cars. My lap time sucked, but wow, it was fun feeling the adrenaline pump while stepping on the gas!

Quick question about this - do they let you drive in the car by yourself, or does someone from Mazda sit with you? Also, what is there to prevent you from being a total ass and trying to crash the car (besides valueing life)?

well they give you a paper stating that they're not responsible if something happens to you. But I think that it doesn't matter if you mess up the car or whatnot. I doubt it anyone will crash and die (sounds wrong but whatever); its a closed circuit with cones, kinda like driving school. there's 3 practice courses where you can see how well you handle the car in curves, braking and acceleration.

you drive the car all by yourself, you just gotta be 18 and have a license to do it.

Did the mazda rev it up @ chicago today :)
it was pretty good , i wish I had more laps and time on the cars.

most of the time was spent waiting and each lap was only 30~40 seconds.

I did test out Miata limited edition. not bad.

They had few RX-8s to sit in and touch, but no test driving .

the back seat is very comfortable and the half door works very well, i had no problem getting in and out.

friend of mine questioned its pedal positions saying it will be hard to heel & toe, but that might be just him (he is so used to integra).

My times were not good at all, but than again, this was my first autox event :) i think i did ok by not hitting any cones .

the Pro time was 32seconds and when we got there in the morning (9:30am) someone already got 34 seconds and there were many like that during the day, but I got 40 seconds :) (42 on first , 40 on second).

I think it was well worth the money spent... at least for n00bs like me :)

I did Mercedes' C-Spot today. Got to drive all sorts of C-class MBs around various wet and dry tracks. Even got to ride in a C32 AMG around a track :)

wow arent those c-class drives invites only? or $1200 ? i hear its very good.

one more bad thing was that few of our friends came from canada all the way down to chicago to join this thing and guess what.. u MUST have us drivers license to compete!! they let u test drive the cars but any performance stuff, u cant do.. now that was really bad...

we came up with an idea to have him drive as well, so he DID drive and participate, but that's sad how they take the money and didnt tell us anything about that when we signed up.

hope they have more of these cheap/free auto events :) it was very fun.

I went to the lexus SUV competition thing and mazda thing, now i need.. how about something faster :D like c-class but cheaper :D

Those sixes were manual transmissions right? Someone was telling me that they were using slushboxes..but I didn't believe that.
