Its interesting that they are basically remaking every Final Fantasy.

Well, the games were so awesome that they're guaranteed money-makers and it seems like lately Square has been delivering nothing but disappointments.

Pretty much. They already have the story and all that, they already have the FF3 engine. Making this game was probably dirt cheap, and it'll sell well.

I probably have played through ff4 half a dozen times between the ages of 8-14... and would gladly pick this up and do it again :)

Omggg... The FMVs look so awesome.. what a load of crap that theyre doing it for the DS only which cant do anything more than mediocre graphics... If it were a Xbox360/PS3/Pc they could actually make those FMV as real time, and then Id buy the game 10 times over :p Rydia looks gorgeous summoning leviathan... FF IV is one of my favs anyway

it was a wonderful world when I could sleep, and otherwise live in final fantasy 2, 3, 4, etc.. for weeks at a time.

the cartoon characters during game play looks retarded. CGI graphics look great though

I remember playing FF2 a long time ago with certain game genie codes that allowed you to walk through walls. I did these at strategic points in the game to avoid certain plot turns, and I ended up with Cid & Yang in the moon with me. The novelty wore off pretty quick though as their strength doesn't cut it.

In the GBA remake, you can actually pick who you want in your final party.

They beefed up all the characters you lose along the way and gave them some new weapons too.

Yang is a BEAST in the end-game.

That's awesome. FFII was my favorite of the series, and completely revolutionized the RPG world (yes, I said FFII, not FFIV - my game had a II on it)

Damn, my video game playing petered out after the SNES, maybe now I have reason to start again.

I wonder how much cost of development plays into the "which console to produce for" decision. The DS seems like a low-cost alternative. Because the graphics engine isn't as good, nobody is expecting jaw-dropping (and very pricey) CGI.

Here's hoping systems like the DS can revive an effort to bring out games that are fun to play, not only fun to watch.
