OMG fatal accident on freeway here this past weekend

Emergency crews peeled away layers of metal after a fiery nine-vehicle collision Saturday left three people burned beyond recognition on Loop 101 near Scottsdale.
Police interviewed the man who stopped on the freeway, but it is unclear whether he will be cited or charged.

That man who stopped randomly on the freeway should be charged with manslaughter IMO

I'm just quoting the topic title here...see if you can figure out if people died

OMG fatal accident on freeway here this past weekend

What if his car stalled and for one reason or another was unable to get off the road possibly due to other traffic blocking him in by accident?

Unless the guy was just drunk and decided to park his car there, which is very unlikely, this is just an unfortunate accident that insurance needs to deal with.

Why the hell would you stop in the middle of the freeway and get out of your car?!!?! Did it mention how sudden was the stoppage?

The truck driver sitting up high should have had a far enough view to react to the oncoming situation, no?

if your car stalls at highway speeds (assuming no traffic since obviously there was speed going into this pileup)... you're going to have time to move over to either shoulder. The guy was likely an idiot or drunk.

And of course... the person who causes a horrific traffic accident lives while the others do not. :|

This guy stopping on the freeway is similar to the guy stopping his car on the railroad tracks recently in LA.

He should be charged with manslaughter.

rh71, based on what Vic's link said:

"The man who triggered a triple-fatal accident Saturday on the Loop 101 near Scottsdale stopped his car in the freeway's northbound center lane to investigate slowed traffic ahead, officials said Sunday."

Sucks, but would you give this guy a lot of time in prison over this mistake? I wouldn't. There is no reason to take more peoples lives away from them out of this situation. You know the guy is probably at home right now sick at his stomach, scared to death, and grieving over the lives that were taken over the poor decisions he made.

I think that is an unreasonable observation. What about the truck driver who was going way to fast and following way to closely?

Or what about the lady that wasn't paying enough attention and was forced to slam on her brakes which didn't give the truck driver enough time to stop?

A train you can't stop and they arn't held responsible to such things. But the law also talks about not following to closely and 95% of the time if you hit someone in the rear end it is your fault, not the guy in front of you. Which I don't always agree with....
