u bill gates secret lover ? it's retarded to have half of a "feature" installed by default, with no way to disable it.

and the concept of having a keyboard setting change, just because i hold a key down for 8 seconds, is stupid.

so because i held shift key down longer than bill gates thinks i should, i have to dig out my install disk, install some more bloat i dont need, so i can turn off a retarded feature i didn't want to begin with..

No, it's not impossible to disable. It ASKS YOU if you want to disable it the FIRST TIME you do it. It's also in Control Panels somewhere.

That's part of my point.. it isn't in control panel unless you intalled accessibility options.

you are my saviouor, i think !! 1234567890

why would they put such a stupid "feature" in ???

for idiots who need an hour and a half to find their key. Really, thats why they put in int acessability options. (the symbol with the wheelchair logo). I hate when you have them enabled and you're playing some game and you're walking around, and BAM games closes and you see (hi... I'm the gay ass sticky keys dialogue box... I'm here yo annoy this piss out of you. lalala)

So you DISABLE IT. FYI, the reason these annoyances are turned on in the first place is because some advocate for the mentally disabled sued because a fully capable person has to set up the computer for disabled access first :disgust:

how would a mentally disabled person know they should hold the right shift key down for 8 seconds ??

Do you have sp2 installed ? I don't know if it matters but I think I didn't used to have this happen in the past.

But I have incomplete records of how long I held the shift key down back then..😉

My Accessibility options panel has the Sticky Keys option.

Good f'ing question.

"My Accessibility options panel has the Sticky Keys option."

mine doesn't. and I'm looking through the add/remove windows option in control panel.. and there doesn't seem to be a way to add accessibility options that way..guess I'll have to try and do it manually, or reinstall windows..

Is there anyway to permanently disable sticky keys? I can't stand that sh|t!

Try reading the dialog box that pops up when you activate it. If you can't figure it out from there, you're disabled enough to need it.

How exactly do you not install accessability options? WinXP, in any of it's legitimate forms, DOES NOT HAVE A CUSTOM INSTALLATION OPTION.

To tell you the truth, I don't know. I have a legit retail version of XP Pro.. I assume during install there might have been a point where I could pick what to install or not install, and chose not to install accessibility options, or not all of them anyway. But I really don't remember.

In control panel under accessibility options there are only 2 things to pick..

adjust color..etc.

and configure Windows for vision..etc.

but clicking configure just brings up a message that accwiz.exe can't be found.

Of course I don't need accessibility options, but now I have to install it so I can turn them off.

btw, I didn't post this in off-topic looking for help, although I appreciate it, I posted it here cause I think it's one of those retarded kind of things that off-topic is for. But the way the thread has developed it would probably be more appropriate in 'operating systems forum'.

I can guarantee that there is no option in Setup to not install ANY component (Well, other than networking protocols)

In short, you broke it. Your fault.

Then what does this mean ?

Special Options
Under Special Options, you have the choice to change Language, Advanced, and Accessibility settings during the setup process.

http://www.microsoft.com/windo...tarted/installnew.mspx

You did a hot-install. That's even worse than breaking it after installation. And those are only for DURING SETUP, and have no bearing on the files that actually get installed.

umm, I don't even know what hot-install is.. I did a completly normal install. But I just did a search for accwiz.exe, and discovered that it does live in my computer in a couple of versions in folders related to the installation of SP2, I think. The old version of accwiz.exe is in a folder where SP2 backed up stuff, and the new version is in a directory "servicepackfiles", so apparently when I installed SP2 the old version got removed from the windows directory, but the new version didn't get installed properly, for what reason, I don't know.

A hot install is when you install Windows from within Windows. That is not a completely normal install.
