I second this. I also played DoD since the first betas, and I had a lot of fun watching the mod develop throughout the different versions. It used to be my favortie online fps, but it is just a totally different game now. The jump from the last beta version (3.x?) to retail was very disappointing to me, but I still bought DoD:S the day it was released, hoping for some more of the old-style gameplay. I played for a few hours, and then was one of many people affected by the whole "credit card declined" fiasco. I never bothered to re-order, as in those few hours I had seen more than I cared to.

I guess I'll revisit the game this weekend if it's going to be free, but from the sounds of it, not much has changed. Such a disappointment.

I wouldn't say it's almost exactly like the non-Source version... as others have said the weapons are more inaccurate but if you play for a bit you know how to compensate for the recoil, so I guess it doesn't matter much. But I think the maps are wayyyyy better in Source.

Anyone play this weekend? I haven;t played since DoD 1.3 and forgot how fun of a game it is. Upgrading to a $200 video card was actually worth it. played quite a bit but usually got spanked since I did not know the maps at all.

LOL. Isn't that the truth. Capping flags was the worst. The nubs couldn't grasp the concept of "Capping flags wins games.."

The numbers on our servers tripled this weekend. If anyone is looking for some top notch DODS or CSS servers to play on give http://www.mofclan.net a look.
