OMG, did you know about this?

This was just posted like a few weeks ago.

Edit: I love when idiots say this kind of stupid stuff.

ya this vid is true....when i wuz like 8 or? sumthing......idk it wuz a long time ago but i broke one of those 6v's in the store and saw all of them AA's coming out

FYI, this varies from battery to battery. There's no guarantee that you'll actually find 32 AA batteries inside the 6V. You might find a bunch of C's or D's or the like...

Edit: Or just 4 large 1.5 Volt cells. 😱

Gee, aren't they all (flashlight batteries) 1.5 volt batteries?

(with the obvious exceptions of teh 9v , 12v, and yes, teh 6 volt)

Notice that 9 and 12 are nice multiples of 1.5 as well. I think the chemistry of the batteries makes 1.5 V a convenient size, but I'm no chemist. 🙂

1.5V comes from the chemistry, that's what you get and nothing else. Now you can make batteries in any multiple of 1.5V and package.

well damn it. the history channel told me that a cell is defined as 1.5 volt, or something like that, which is the AA size...and that technically a 6 volt is 4 AA batteries, a 12v is 8 AA and so on....

I seen 'em dissect those batteries on their program too!

yeah, my voltage and cell definition is off...I'm no electrical engineer (one of the few physics classes that I took in school was taught by a TA that spoke 4 words of English...I always blame him 😀)

Out of curiosity -- does it vary from chemistry to chemistry? I.e. alkaline vs. non alkaline? What about ni-cad and li-ion?

Interestingly enough, there ARE 8 button cells inside a 12V garage-door-opener battery (23A). I have confirmed this personally.

There's another of these vids showing six small AAA like cells in a 9V. (they have only 2/3 the diameter of a AAA, but are almost as long. Enough that they'll work in a pinch)

So I took apart two dead 9Vs out of curiosity. Energizer does use six round cells like that, while Rayovac uses a stack of flat cells. Of course now I'll end up buying all sorts of off brand batteries just to take apart. Damn internet.

Did you know there are 2000 AA batteries inside a 12volt car battery. Pry one open and see for yourself. 🙂
