OMG, CPU fan's too loud!

I just upgraded my cpu cooler (stock retail) to the Golden Gate w/40 CFM fan, and I didn't know how damn loud this thing is on my Antec 1030 case. It is like O'Hare Airport in my room! It did drop my 1.4 Tbird temps by 4 degrees.

Are all high performance cpu coolers this loud??!! :Q

 
No. Try an Alpha 8045 + Panflo L1A. It is virtually silent (21 dBA). If you post your rig specs and temps you are seeing then we can give you more options (since not all HSF fit on all MBs).
 
You can also put an enermax adjustable on that Alpha and get the best of both worlds. You can run it at low for almost silent cooling, and if you want to try a nice fat over clock then you can bump that bad boy up to high. They also come in blue now!
