wow, this sucks for boston 🙁 hayward came down hard and full broke his leg above his ankle. below is the video but warning, it is disturbing if you are not used to this kind of thing. my stomach turned inside out when i saw a closeup picture.

i know cavs vs celtics is a thing especially with kyrie leaving cleveland, but i wouldn't wish this on anyone. hope hayward can come back this season.

There was a more graphic one near the knee many years back iirc, but this one is gnarly too.

Yea Paul George, his was much worse as he literally snapped his leg in half. This one is very bad though too especially when the season literally just started too.

I dont watch basketball but that looks painful...
Any updates on him? is he recovering or is he out for the rest of the season or whatever you guys call it.

nothing is certain at this point, but NBA season is long and playoffs start in april, so maybe there's a chance he'll be back. i had heard 4 months recovery for someone else who had a similar injury in the past.

Oh I see.

NBA is not popular in the UK but have you seen the Arsenal vs Birmingham injury? Bone sticks out.

Young pro athletes recover extremely well nowadays from devastating injuries. I'd still be surprised if Hayward returns to play in the 2018 NBA Finals, IF the team gets that far. He'll probably be good to go next summer in preparation for next season.

I was watching it happened on my phone while on a train. My stomach was so sick I almost threw up, had to leave the train to regain myself.

I saw it last night on ESPN when I got home from work. They showed the incident like a gazillion times from different angles and each time it just looked unreal. I feel bad for the guy. I hadn't really even heard of him until last season. It's great that that the fans, players, teams and the nba are sending well wishes. What a brutal way to start the season though.

Watched that live last night. At first thought his shoe had come off, and then I realized his foot was still in the shoe. 😱

The one that "sticks out" in my mind is Kevin Ware from 2013. Rick Pitino saying, "basically the bone popped outta da skin" was memorable.

YEah this is the worst one I've even seen to date. And the bench reaction is priceless as it's RIGHT in front of them on an elevated court IIRC. Not to mention he was literally just running up the court and *snap*.

I once had great seats, behind home plate for a minor league baseball game..and the catcher snapped his femur while sliding into home. The sound of that *snap* never leaves you.
