People around here piss me off. The news stations are talking as if we are getting a blizzard, my neighbors were unloading you guessed it bread/milk/toilet paper/and several snow shovels this morning, and I just got an e-mail from instructing everyone with a non-permamantly assigned fleet car who is able to go trade in our Crown Vics for Luminas because as we all know rear wheel drive cars in the snow mean instant death. :disgust:

I should move to Michigan or someplace where people aren't puss...

Okay, that is stupid. Kindda reminds me of the fear and panic Y2K inspired. Where do you live, exactly?

I had a friend stationed in Houston, Texas years ago. They got something like three inches of snow, shut down EVERYTHING. He's from NY, and spent a lot of time boggling at the people sliding through the intersection near the base because they just couldn't drive on snow. I wish he had managed to get pics of them using the tank (only thing with a blade) to clean out some of the snow on and in front of their base.

In central MS every year we'll get some threatening cold fronts moving through that MIGHT give us an inch or two of snow but RARELY ever do. The most we'll see are some flurries more than likely. To the local SNOOZE stations this is like gold. They have the obligatory camera crew go to the local hardware and grocery stores to film local goofballs stocking up for the big Winter catastrophe that awaits

It gets very annoying because they make such a big deal out of it. My kids love it though when they cancel school. ;)

Since they do this every time a flurry falls, shouldn't everyone have a damn snow shovel by now?

Snow is a big deal in some places. I always give my Atlanta relatives a hard time when they shut down the entire city for a half inch of snow, and thay are always amazed how we have heat emergencies up in Chicago.

Some places it's just not cost effective to prepare for certain types of weather.
