Telemarketers used to invade my privacy but having unknown number bocking and caller ID has stopped that. But the door to door people still come My wife bought a $1759 Vacuum that way!!! What a mess. It's called a Rainbow and you fill it with water. It's absolutly discussting to emply this dirty thing. The cloudy filthy water dirtys the sink and screws up the disposal. Plus it is a canister VAC which means two pieces to hall around corners and scuff the walls. Ahh Women..

Rude, possibly. Ghastly hours, not likely. It is against the law to call before 9 AM, so 99% of telemarketing arent stupid enough to do so, or they'd have a class action lawsuit on their hands. Also, for those of you who like to say "Those A$$holes call me so late at night!", no. Theyre not allowed to call past 9 PM either. So go change ur diaper gramps, 9 PM sure aint all that late to me...

I'm not sure about the rest of the US, but here in Louisiana if you submit your name to them the telemarketers are not allowed to call you at all. If they do call you can report them and they will be issued a heafty fine. Also the phone company blocks most of the calls they make anyways. Now we recieve a grand total of 0 telemarketer calls each day .

maybe, but the amount going to MADD could be very close to 0%. Many fund raising companies "donate" whatever tiny percent they feel like after expenses including huge salaries.

If you've ever gotten a call from "police" or "firefighters" selling you tickets to some event, you should know the fund-raisers typically only give about 3% to some local police/fire charity -- it's a scam and a successful one because you think you'd better give money to the cops or else. Of course the person calling isn't really a policeman or fireman. >>

But then again... she's mormon, so she tries to give 10% of everything she makes to her church.... which imho is incrreeedddddiblly stupid

Hah, i like when telemarketers call, it's fun, depending on my mood but suprisingly enough, they only call about 3 times a week :-(

this one place she told she wont donate to keeps calling.. but she aint going to now because of my dad being laid off from boeing...

but anyways, other than that... we dont get any....
we have anonymous call rejection, and people either have to let their caller id info show through, if they cant or wont, they have to say who it is.. .and we have the option to reject the call

Yeah, the Rainbow is a piece of crap. She should have waited for the Electrolux salesman.

i don't even mind telemarketers unless they're the type that talk and won't let you say something. then at the end they say "ok let me sign you up for this" without letting you say yes or no. i used to be a telemarketer and that was one of the tactic of pressuring people. it's evil, it's annoying, and THAT is what really bothers me enough to just hang up. otherwise i just listen and nicely decline.

OOOhh, i hate telemarketers. I am so mean to them. I yell at them, hang up on them, demand to be taken off their lists, put them on hold, let them talk to thin air,... They get zero respect from me. No way am I going to let a company call me at my house and make me listen to an advertisement! that is BS!

At&t calls my house nightly. We already have their long distance, cell phones, and a couple of their credit cards, what more do they want?

We used to get a truckload of telemarketers calling us. We moved last summer and my parents opted to leave the phone number out of the phone book. It's surprising how few telemarketers call now. My dorm room on the other hand...... For a while, we would get several a day.
