You should count you lucky that you're still alive and the same goes for the smoking lady, imagine what would have happened if the gas was ignited by the cigarette.
 
Just tell her you were trying to freshen up the air from the foul stench she was causing with her disgusting smoking habit.
 
Awesome story.. I suspect the combination of noxious fumes and the nicotine just raised her lung cancer chances tenfold!!
