what u talking about....thats totally safe. the wings out of shot, so i assume its still there.....long as it has wings and the other engine is fine it can still fly. that engines probably fine too, just comestic damage. probably raises the drag co-efficient..nothing to worry about

well after flying to america 7+ times and having scary things like, drunken guy trys to get into cockpit (who is then immediately decked by a guy resembling ross kemp) engine fires on a TWA flight and a Delta MD-11 literally being taken apart and put back together before we departed that doesnt seem so bad.

im doing engieering at uni, and by just reading around you can find out that alot of stuff still works when its broken because it was desgined that way

im sure for aero planes if they had the oppertunity to engineer a plane to fly with one wing then they would.

i remember about a 747 that took off too heavy and on a too short a runway....it got its underside completely torn to shreds by the steel pier at the end of the runway...but it still managed to get airborn, it still managed to have enough wheels to land on and it still managed to land safely, planes are so much more robust than youd image

If you have ever watched teh show "Airport" on discovery you would have seen a group of engineers fixing a plane's engine with duct tape. :Q One of the turbine blades was damaged and they needed to smooth it out, IIRC.
