OMFG the computer from hell

Been over a week I'm trying to get this stupid computer to work. It's an HP s3620F and it's problem after problem after problem. I just reinstalled windows for like the 5th time, now this time, it decided to assign H: to the OS drive, and the stupid built on media reader thing is C. WTF?!?! Anyone seen this before? So of course, now I can't even install anything because it's trying to install it to C. I freaken zeroed out the entire drive, what more could I do? (was having similar partition issues before).

My only option now is to unplug that reader (if it's not hard wired to the motherboard) but what will happen when I plug it back in?

Is there a way I can somehow just change the H drive to C? This is really retarded. This computer has been nothing but trouble and I just want this to end.

If its xp, there is a ms article that explains on how to change the drive letters. but if you have not installed to much now, its just as easy to unplug the card reader, let it install windows and then plug it back in after. it will assign letters after D: for the card reader

I had that happen once. I just unplugged the media reader block (wired to one of the USB headers on the motherboard), installed Windows, and then plugged it back in.

yeah just did that now, reinstalling. bah, I hope nothing else goes wrong! This PC is totally cursed or something. It has NEVER taken me a whole week to clean install windows LOL. I think I need to pour holy water on this thing. While it's on.

The thing with drive assignment and card readers is a known issue.

It might be better to drop the system image instead. It would only take about ten minutes, you wouldn't have to unplug the reader, etc. Then uninstall all the crapware, install the latest service pack, then connect to the Internet and download the latest criticals.

When installing Windows, disconnect any hard disks or anything that might look like a hard disk (memory reader). After Windows is installed, you can reconnect the other disks. Windows tries to protect you against accidental drive letter changes, but most folks don't like their new System drive letter to be H:
