OMFG Matt Clement seriously injured...

As a member of the human race, I'm relieved and glad to see he's going to be OK. Taking a shot like that is life-threatening (never mind career-threatening).

As a Yankee fan, I'm also glad and relieved to see he's OK. That way, we can beat on him again like we did the last time he pitched aginst us. 😛

Didn't this happen to Kaz Ishii a few years ago? Getting over the injury is one thing, but getting the courage to get back up in that pitcher's mound is something else.

Others have mentioned this, so I assume it to be true. Kaz actually pitched last night (1 ER in 6 innings, I believe, though he lost the game).

that is hilarious!

if it were a Yankee's pitcher who got beaned you'd say the same damn thing.
you frickin hypocrite.

but unlike YOU, i will say i hope Clement is OK, and by the sounds of the report on ESPN this morning he's going to be fine.

Hey idiot, what part of my post that's three above yours don't you understand?
hey asshat, like i believe that.
you've threatened to kill me. your malice knows no boundaries.

Wow, he was practically in the windup still when that ball hit him. No way he could have avoided it. I was always afraid of somethin like that happening when I pitched, and in the minors they use aluminum bats.

What's so special about aluminum bats? Do people hit harder with them or something?

Yup. They hit the ball harder, which makes the velocity coming off the bat faster. That's why they outlawed titanium bats in college softball. As far as I know, they do not use aluminum bats in the minors.

They're not even aluminum anymore. They're made out of a special alloy that allows players to swing them faster, gives them a bigger sweet spot, and due to the properties of the metal, allow the ball to travel much faster off of the bat than wooden bats.

The problem I have with banning these types of bats is not that the Leagues themselves are banning them (perfectly fine, it's their leagure and they should be allowed to), but that states are taking measures to make it illegal to use these bats in all leagues within a state. Government has no place or right doing so.

yes, it is a proven fact that a ball will hurtle faster off an aluminum one compared to a wooden one. so much so that aluminum has been banned in some lower league play in various states.

That has gotta be one of the scariest parts of the game in baseball. I remember a few years ago a young pitcher, Bryce Florie (of the Red Sox), got nailed right in the eye and ended his career right there.

LOL, STOP the drama. Death threat, ROFL. You really ARE retarded. So, when your friend says something to the effect of "If you tell anyone, I'll kill you", you take that as a death threat? It's an expression, figure of speech almost. But of course, you, being retarded, wouldn't be able to understand that. Now stop hijacking the thread.

Enough already.

moshquerade: you're a fvcking drama queen. To keep on bringing that up when you know it wasn't serious is absolutely ridiculous. It's a weak attempt at trolling each of his posts, so just cut the crap.

BostonRedSox: Don't act like your sh!t doesn't stink. You've been less than courteous in previous threads regarding the Yankees/Sox, and don't be suprised when people act like as much of an arse as you have.

Yes, I give the Yankee fans a hard time, it's part of the rivalry, and fun. But I don't wish personal harm on anyone, Yankee players and their fans included. That's taking it to a whole other level.

Yankees fans are asshats

Agreed 100%.

Now, with that said, I've read the posts that said "Try wearing Yankee gear in Boston, you'll be killed, blah blah blah".

I was at the Yankee/Red Sox game this past Saturday, with my girlfriend who's a Yankee fan. She was wearing Yankee jersey and hat, along with her Yankee purse. Nobody said one thing to her. In fact, in my section, section 27, I'd say it was about 20% Yankee fans. Sure, we'd give them hell when they cheered, but it was all light natured and in good fun. Nothing physical whatsoever happened at all, throughout the whole game, in any section, from what I saw. Even after the game ended, and yes, the Yankees won, everyone was respectful of each other outside of Fenway.

I'm sure there are confrontations that happen, but what's not being said is how it's instigated, and who's really at fault. I've never seen anyone go up to anyone else and start sh!t without provocation first. Nobody in Boston goes up to anyone wearing a different teams colors and punches them, or beats their dog, etc. Get a clue.
*looks at username*

of course you would say this

 WTF does that have to do with anything?? I'm telling you my personal experience from this past Saturday, and from all the time I've spent in Boston. I'd say the same thing even if my username was "Mr. Moshquerade".
did you just propose to me?

dude, you are a boston red sox fan. you are going to see the world through those rose colored glasses.

Hell no, I'd kill you in 20 seconds flat. So, I wasn't seeing any Yankee fans bothered on Saturday through rose colored glasses? Ugh, please stop.

shove it

Mosq , why flame and bring up old shlt thats irrelevant to anything? Most everyone agrees with his comment in this thread......nobody cares about your personal issues with him so you can stop crying about it.

Ive been hit in the face and various other places playing baseball but this was simply insane and unfortunate, theres nothing he could have done.
