i think these are also, by the look of it, called "liner locks"

at the base of blade, in the groove where the blade is kept should be a tab you push in with your thumb to close the blade

Apply pressure here.
There is a mechanism that blocks the blade from closing. Press it, and it will move out of the way allowing you to close the blade.

most gerber knives have a spring lock inside the frame, just push it against the frame to release the blade.
