Yes, some people will cling to their old O/S's.

I had an elderly client who wanted me to delete Windows XP on her brand new system and install Windows95 because that is what she liked and was used to. (this is where a "retard smiley" would be nice, lol)

I coulda gouged her for a couple hundred but instead taught her how to use XP and she continues to refer new customers to me.

I dread a new O/S upgrade but will end up using it because I have been part of the borg and as we all know from Star Trek, there is no escaping the borg.

Exactly. Heck, I'm still using Win2K, and Vista seems to look more and more like XP SP3. I may upgrade to XP when I get a new comp, but no further.

give the customer what they want. if they want DOS, give them DOS.

personally, i use what I need.

Since I'm into web development and unix admin, that's mostly what I use.

as a desktop too 😀

every new dell, gateway etc will have it. it will become mainstream like xp. everyone didnt want to goto xp. and now its standard. give it time and everyone will have it. its just new and no one has it. it will be the new mainstream thus this is such a worthless problem to worry about.

vista will have directx 10 as a minimum. halo 2 will use directx 10.

how is this any different than the next mario on the revolution, or the next metal gear solid on ps3, or halo 3 on xbox360?

man, i remember back in the day when people moaned and complained about win95 being too mac like and how MS was alienating their win 3.11 customers. Same thing was said about WinXP, same thing is being said for WinVista, same thing will be said for blackcomb (or whatever it's called now).

Because Microsoft is a company with almost no genuine achievements, and Halo is one of the rare things they have got users to like, and they can't find any other way to have users use their newely released OS, pathetic if you ask me, not like I even like Halo, but when you reach a level were you are publicly forcing users to migrate to a new OS just for a game, then you are admitting that your new OS is worthless and has no new features that might intrest those who will have to pay for it!

Yeah, but XP was actually an UPGRADE from Win2k, and was a better OS overall. Vista looks like XP SP3, and not much else.
