Not a fan of 3D either, and I think its being overused lately. I go for the 2D option, but the show times are very limited in my area. The 3D version might be on 3 or 4 screens running all day, while the 2D gets 4 or 5 showings a day on 1 screen (usually a smaller theater, etc...).

That hasn't been my experience.

i tend to go to the drive in instead of theaters, so all the movies are in 2D.

the 3D movement is a marketing gimmick i think, just like labeling something "NEW! IMPROVED!"

edit:

if they could actually get the depth of field thing down to an art, 3D movies would be great. 3D doesnt mean shit looking like its coming at you all the time.

Don't worry, OP. Once all this 3D turns people's brains to mush, and they become zombies, it will be much easier to spot them, since they'll all still be wearing their 3D glasses.

"Let's see......yep, glasses!" KA-POW!!! "One less 3D zombie to worry about!!" :sneaky:

This. Heck, I'll take it a step further. I have NEVER been to a theater that offered a 3D movie but did not offer the 2D version as well. If any of you are experiencing this problem then you need to bitch at your local theater management and not at the internet.

It does happen and it's only going to happen more and more if people keep paying for the higher priced tickets because more theatres are being converted to 3D capable theatres. If the big studios have their way, and if consumers continue to pay the higher price, they will have everything released in 3D.

It could get to a point where I will not be seeing any larger new releases in the theatre. I'd just have to wait for the rental, unless everything moves to the day and date model some of the indie production companies are beginning to embrace.
