He's using several thousand dollars in cooling to get there. It's called a cascade, his temps are around -120 degrees.

Keep your A64 and be happy, you'll never get an overclock like that.

Too bad he cant get into Windows with that.

Its also not a "+7gig overclock". Its a 3.4gig or so overclock.

Has it occured to ANYONE that he's lying? I mean, it IS the internet

Sigh... That must be why these guys get parts from campany's before they are released to the public?

They go to shows and do competitions. Kinda hard to fake that.

Wow, you're crazy. For one thing, if you invested that kind of cash in cooling you'd be broke! Next, he started out with a hyper expensive setup and then did a volt mod on his motherboard (immediately voiding warranty for over $1k+ of parts). Then he proceeds to overvolt his CPU by about 50%! All that and it probably still can't beat an FX-55 for gaming. JUST KIDDING-No flames, please

If this were commonly possible, do you think the guy would be plastered all over the internet!? Not exactly. Trust me on this one, he is about 200% beyond what would be an extreme OC on water cooling with that chip. 3.2->4.0= 3.2->7.0+=:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

idiot. It's easy to OC maximus when processor shut off half the time.

You guys do realize that in that forum are the top overclockers in the world? These guys consistantly rank in the top 5 on every bench, andunlike most, they can hold these scores for weeks, or even months.

Fugger was the first to break 6ghz I believe, and Macci broke 4 and 5, I think on LN2.

These guys aren't the type that fake scores, nor are they morons. They live for this stuff.

Two kinds of overclockers

Performance Overclocker - Enjoys getting the most out of a inexpensive CPU, values price to performance ratio, and use's the overclock setting for inhanced performance in daily activites.

Sport Overclocker - Enjoys competition, will spend the price of a small car for a cooling solutions, use's CPU like most people use socks. The goal is to boot up and post screenshots or run 5-10min benchmarks, stability or useability not required. Most of these guys rigs aren't even in a conventional case, some of them look like a science experiment gone bad.

I think most in this forum are in the first group.

Lets see your 5+ gig OC since its easy.

Thats kinda hard when Zebo's running an overclocked 2.6 Ghz winnie, the fact its already overclocked by 600 Mhz shows he know his stuff, and his v.Good overclocking guide also backs it up.

I was talking to duvie anyway about the moron who's clocking 4.4 and really running 2.6.. not about fugger.

Werd. I like 24/7 stable inside a box and quiet. Bacisally don't even raise volts , just current (mhz) hoping to get to the top rated chip speed for the lowest price possible. That does'nt even look like fun. Take a look at some of thier contraptions somtime.

Cascade for 2 components

I'd need two of those Frostbyte's. Dual Opteron rev e and two 6800 Ultras. hahaha!

I like the submerged in dielectric oil. That's awesome! -190c

The OC is indeed incredible, and I'm going to refrain from commenting about the PSU involved :), but ... isn't the point of sports-car hotrodding and racing, to actual be able to run and complete the race? What good does it do, if it only moves 3 feet on the pavement before the engine blows due to the extreme RPMs (voltages)? (Even if it was briefly measured at 1000HP?) Unless they can boot Windows, and run Prime95 / SuperPI / CPU-Z / whatever stable, then it's just a worthless show of cryogenics gear, IMHO.

Yeah, especially since at that point, the CPU's caches are disabled, and the program code is running out of ROM, not RAM. (Well, depending on what step in the boot process it is.)

And trophy-winning anglers, don't also tell "fish stories" either to their buddies at the pub? C'mon. If it's not Prime95 stable, it's not a valid OC. Period.

PS. I'd like to see them run their system at those overclocked speeds (stably) for "weeks, or even months". I'd hate to see their LN2 bills at the end of the month. :(
