Greetings All.

Here I am again, wishing you all a great holiday tomorrow and bring you something fun: tidbits about the F&F day next Saturday at OfficeMax.

The standard disclaimers apply:
I do not have scans. I am not responsible for typos (sorry if I do make any mistakes). Your mileage may vary depending on which location you go to (I cannot guaraantee the prices and products will be the same in all areas, I can only vouch for my turf). All discounts are a result of the coupon barcode printed on the flyer (which you will need for the discounts), do not attempt to "stack coupons", it will not work. All prices are rounded to the nearest whole dollar.

Parallel port drives are for people who still use Zip disks :D

Seriously though, the last PC I had that I installed my Zip drive on was my Pentium III 450(upgraded later to a 550E), which, albeit being rather fast due to insane overclockage, is still 1998-99 technology. Actually, the Zip drive dates all the way back to me installing it into my Pentium 166 machine(Presario 4712 heh).

I know this is the new "250" and all, but my Zip drive lost almost all it's functionality sometime between when I got my 4X CD burner and my school put up a firewall to stop people from downloading stuff over the T1 and shuttling it home using the Zip drives in the Macintosh computer lab =P

To be fair, I lost a lot of data on cheap piece of crap CD-R's, but that data really wasn't all that useful in retrospect. And now that we have 16X CD-RW drives and discs, it really seems weird that anybody would use a 250MB Zip Drive. Just get a good reliable brand of CD-RW and it's probably pretty damn safe. Cheaper by a lot too, plus faster, plus FAR more compatible at this point(at least as far as being read). Plus the Zip 250 disks can't be read in Zip 100 drives anyway so the compatibility base of your disks being read is pretty slim anyway.

I understand the use of zip drives but was joking about the parallel part (since USB is now the norm). My oldest media is still a zip disk. Yeah 100MB is little now, but back when my hard drive was only 2G it worked fine. I also find I used to backup my computer more often to my zip disk than my CDs. I wonder why? Or maybe I am now too lazy, :D

Thanks for the post ChunkyBarf. On the HP DVD burner, do you know if OM will also allow the $25 Gift Card that is listed on their website? I have not seen a flyer for this sale yet, that's why I'm asking.

Thanks again

If they have a vaild rebate offered, they will give it to you even though you got the item for cheap at the F&F. I got one f these drives for $149 with a 75 gift card via rebate awhile back at one of the F&F deals....
