I didn't realize this. I see BB is not taking orders for this drive, but TechDepot has them in stock. TechDepot says they are an OfficeDepot company, so would they offer in-store pickup? Anyone know? Anyone know how to get around the waiting-for-rebates part of this deal?

Just got off the phone for the price adjustment. The guy took care of it in about 30 seconds. Didn't mention anything about backorder status, it sounded like they are swamped right now with calls. Took about 20 minutes hold time to get through to someone, but I'm not complaining for a $48 hard drive. Let's just hope it shows up sometime soon...

I'd better not get screwed with this. I called @ around 11:50PM EST on the 26th and spoke to a CSR, asking if the drive was in stock.

I then called back around 12:15AM on the 27th and spoke to ANOTHER CSR who THEN said the drives were NO LONGER AVAILABLE from the website and they NEVER HAD CARRIED THEM despite the product page...when they had been in-stock a few minutes prior.

I can't go to a B&M since there aren't any in the DC area. If OM screws me they'll never get a cent of my business ever again. Right now my drive shows as being CBO, or Backordered with a "Delivery" Date of 7 days.

I don't need this immediately. But it wouldn't shock me if they decide they aren't getting any more of these in-stock until AFTER 5/4/03.

And to add another wrinkle - either my order has already been dropped, or hasn't been added, since the OM.com site doesn't recognize the # and no confirmation email yet.

UPDATE: Got the confirmation email - also called and had the price corrected. CSR said 5/5 date was "tentative," though. :|

A little note about that Cendyne 48x burner - some are made by OptoWrite and the rest are Lite-Ons. There's a sticker on the back of the box with all the specs, including manufacturer - http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=149&page=Conclusion

Maybe this is common knowledge, maybe it ain't. I thought all those Cendynes were just crap but I was considering deal #2 since the burner would be free. Now that I know some of them are Lite-Ons I'll definitely take a closer look

Walleye, You may be able to find at brick & mortor in the A.M. Your stores like mine usually open at 11 A.M. on Sunday. I reccomend you be prompt. I would think that if you were there right when they open, it would be pretty hard for a Mgr. to explain why he /she didn't have enough stock to cover the ad. You don't want to hear @ 11:10 A.M. "oohh, I just the only two I had" crap. I just confirmed my online order & HD is showing up with $30 discount to order, but as back ordered. I too will be there promptly when they open, confirmed order in hand. And yes I will cry that my H.D. was back ordered & how I feel that they should honor my online price. I just talked to a OfficeMAX CSR and they said they are cancelling all orders which are showing backordered. She said that they don't have any more of the 120GB WD and they are discontinued. CRAP DAMN. .... :|
