Pioneer A-04 here. For the people having problems with this discs, did you get write errors, or did you only notice upon playing movies? I've gone through a 25-pack without problems, but I'm not sure I've actually played any of the movie dupes yet.

Longevity may be a problem with cheap media too. I've had poor luck with my A05 with these (latest firmware). 90% coasters.

I'm starting to think that a lot of the problems people are having with cheap media is more related
to the fact that your burner makes coasters. This media is fine I burned another 4 today no problems
,and they play back fine. Picky burners and hacked firmwares are causing people to have to use certain
media just to get their burners to work.

The hack makes it possible to burn any 1x DVD-R at 2x (of course if it is crap quality it may not work).

jb

The hack also overrides the 2x rip speed

I have burned 3 of these since yesterday. DVR-105 with hacked 1.30 firmware. No coasters, movies play all the way through.

For those of you that needs dvd+r, OD has the Verbatim 5pk for $14.50 and it's buy two get one free. Add a $1 item and use a $15 off $30 coupon and you get 15 name brand dvd+r for about $1 each. Not a bad deal for name brand disk.

How do these stack up against Princo DVD-Rs?

I thought Princo was bottom of the barrel @ $75 for 100-pack. But hearing the amount of coasters being made, I'm not sure anymore...

I hear mixed stories from Pioneer 105/A05 users. I'm running the hack v1.30 firmware (2x4All) and would like to see more consistent reviews before buying these.

At over $1/disk, they'd better work in my drive... :)
