I'm going on an internship to California this summer and I want to buy my first good digital camera. I'm not that picky over camera's I just know that I want a good quality image shots with a good optical zoom.

I have narrowed my choices down to two very good (in my opinion) camera's and I really can't decide which one is better.

The Olympus has another megapixel to aid in image quality, but I'm not sure if 1 megapixel makes that much difference.

Panasonic Lumix TZ5
Olympus Stylus 1010

I know that these cameras also have very similar versions like the Stylus 1020 and the Lumix TZ5k, but I really don't know why these models are any different than the other models.

If anyone has an opinion on either of these cameras I would be very appreciative.

Thanks

just FYI, higher megapixels and image quality almost never go hand in hand

without looking, the TZ5k is most likely just the black version of the TZ5.

as already stated here, more pixels don't necessarily mean better pictures... especially in small point-and-shoot cameras.

maybe there's some sample shots or reviews at dpreview.com?
