I picked up this great digital camera over Christmas from Staples for only $259 shipped! The CSR couldn't find any mention of shipping
costs for the company I pricematched with, so no charge there.

Here's the scoop:

Staples has it for $399.98

Pricematch with Camera Sound who sells it for $299.00

Then apply the $40 of $200 coupon floating around.

I think this is an awesome camera, the pictures are great! Here are some reviews:

Yep I think I paid around the same before, either 30 or 40 off but still a great deal, I love the camera too.

That is a little misleading. I pricematched this cam w/staples yesterday from turboprice.com. They had it for 295...and w/the 40 dollar coupon it should have been 255...but because of staples pricematch policy they have to charge the most expensive shipping that the other place charges (in my case 21) and tax which was 14. I got it for 290 and some change...and that is the cheapest that you can get it for, not 259...

You got lucky...because you had a lazy csr...what did they do about tax. Everytime that I've pricematched even if I got a lazy csr, they've always charged tax.

Just discovered this board..Went to my local staples. They said they could do the price match ($295.00) but not the internet coupon of $40 off on $200. I callled the Staples.com 1-800 number. They said they would do both via the phone/website. They called my supplier CompDirect for the $295 price match. I had called and was quoted $29.95 ship price. Staples.com called me back. Staples policy is that they add the most expensive, which is next day shipping. That jacked it to $37.00. They did honor the $40.00 coupon #91178. All said and done, this $399.00 camera at Staples will be delivered to my door on Wednesday 1-17-01 for $318.00 total. Not as good as some of you guys. I could have made more calls for better shipping cost on Monday, (today most places were closed) but I wanted to get the ball rolling.
I tried one last thing. On the front page of the Staples.com website, upper right hand corner it shows a Oly D460Z for $399.00. It says "Free shipping on all orders over $50.00." I tried to get them to bite on that but no go. Any way great site folks. I am now looking to build a Home Theater via online purchases. I have chosen a Sony STR DE845 reciever, Energy Take 5 speakers with 8" subwoofer and a Sony DVPS360 or Panasonic DVDRV30 DVD player. Any input for deals on these would be welcome.

Sincerely,Gypsyman

I thought Staples written policy was to cgarge $5 for shipping on a price match. May be worth finding a written copy of there PM policy.

By the way, I got the same camara in December from Amazon for $137, shipped:) That was using my $150 MCI certificate, there 50/200 coupon, and there free shipping offer. Sorry, I still feel like gloatting about that one:D

Staples policy isn't for a flat 5 buck shipping charge on all PMs. Their policy states:

When comparing catalog or Internet competitors prices, next day shipping and handling charges will be included in the price match analysis.

Therefore if, say, you choose to pricematch from a store that doesn't have their shipping listed on their webpage, and your CSR is a lazy bastard, they will usually just waive the charges. But if you get a devoted CSR, they generally call up the etailer and put you on hold...and when they come back, hit you w/the news that you are being charged 30+ for shipping that you really aren't even taking advantage of. Ain't the best plan, but 290 for a 400 cam isn't bad.
