Olympus Cameras?

I've been looking for a digital camera and I've heard Olympus being thrown around a lot. It seems that they are a known brand but does anyone really know how the overall quality of their products are?

On a side note I am looking to get a digital camera. I only have $200 max to spend (absolutely no more). I am thinking I'll get either of the following:

Canon A530
Canon A430

Any other suggestions?

I use to have one and I loved it. My brother dropped it on concrete when i first got it and i never had any problems. It got stolen a few years later. Haven't gotten a new one since though to compare it to. It was 1.3MP and the pics looked better than many newer higher mp cameras i've seen since.

For Point and Shoot I would definitely look at those Canons vs. the Olympus P&S.

I had a 3.4MP Olympus and loved it. The wife loved it also. The lens was one of the better ones on a camera at the time. Good stuff.

They're pretty decent. Certainly not the worst.

I'd still go with Canon though.

..my d 520 is great. I've dropped numerous times and it rolled down a canyon..thinking it would never work again much less find it but I did. All banged and dented up and it still works. I've used Oly's for years and believe they have the best optics in the biz. Recently got a Oly. C7000 Zoom and having fun wit that.

i have the 1.2 from a few years back, pretty good, gets job done but i'd rather go with Canon these days...

Olynmpus makes an OK camera. Not the best, not the worst, just OK...Nikon and Canon are the top 2 contenders, and Olympus coming somewhere behind...

Olympus and Canon make the best P&S's. You must have never heard of the Camedia Line, or excellent Olympus cameras like the C-5050 and C-8080. Most Nikons are junk, except for the high-end ones.

My Olympus lasted for many years. I've since gone Canon and am very happy.

ROFLMAO! The Camedia line is OK, but just OK...The Nikon CoolPix beat the snot out of them! MUCH better optix...TheOlympus higher end cameras are very good, but still IMO, not as good as Canon or Nikon's offerings.
