Same model, just a different way of saying the model:
720uz = 720 ultra zoom
There is no 720 without an ultrazoom.

Anyone have any experience with this camera? I have seen mixed reviews about it. It is an excellent price for a 3MP camera with 8x zoom, but it has problems taking photos with strong backlighting. This site has good reviews of many cameras:

This camera is good for outside shooting with enough light (daytime). For indoor, the lens is not fast enough, you will really need a monopod or tripod if less than light situation. You can increase the ISO, but the images get quite noisy above ISO 100.

Here are a few pics I took with my C720: C720

That's true, indoor lighting on this one is kinda weak, that's why the C-750UZ (10x optical zoom, 4MP) has the slot to mount an external flash on top of it

Without an image stabilizer and a faster lens, all that zoom goes to waste.. said for a basketball game. The external flash will help if the subject is close enough and if flash photography is allowed.

It's an excellent camera. It takes practice to use the full zoom without a stand but I learned to be careful and let it focus before shooting. Also use a fast shutter speed with the long zoom.

I got it at full retail price after looking for a hot deal. I knew this time would come. HOT DEAL!

not a bad camera.. i got it refurbed for about 330 a in august2k2...

things i don't like:
no sound w/ movies..
not a beginner's camera
no remote!

things i like about it:
not a beginner's camera ;)
life span of batteries
8x Zoom for spy pictures. haha
8x zoom
3x digital zoom
8xzoom.

i think they're clearing out this model for the c-730? it hink?
which has audio with video, a remote, and 10x zoom and like 3.1 mp!
i'd rather go with the 730! but it wasn't out at the time and i wanted a camera
with a 8x zoom!

This camera is supposed to be on sale this Friday at Office Max for $299. BTW, anyone have any opinions on how this camera compares to the Canon A70?

Yeah...I think there's a coupon on the "friends and family" day at OM where you can get this for $299. Awesome camera with 8X optical zoom! :Q Seems like a good deal at $350...but an awesome deal at $299.

Lest anyone missed RBC's post: The C-720 will be only $299 during the special sale on April 26 (in-store only). This is an awesome price that should negate some shortcomings of the camera.

Also, the cheaper ones you find on eBay are refurbished models.

The lens is good and offers great versataility in terms of focal length. At full zoom it avoid using shutter speeds less than 1/150 sec (full manual shutter and aperture settings btw) without a tripod. one of the main complaints with this camera is the chromatic abberation ( CA aka. purple fringing) problems with the lens. ALmost all camera with long zoom lenses like c2100 and fuji 2800 suffer from this , so theres nothing new. The c750 due to be released in june has special elements that reduce these artifacts significantly. Another limitation with this camera that is not present in the c700 and c730 is the lack of manual focus option( big deal for the advanced user) also a mic to record sound in movie mode is absent. for 300 ( or even 250 with coupon) this is much much cheaper than the c730,c740 and c750 so cant really compare. FOr the price i think it offers an unbeatable feature set. id take the 8x zoom 3mp combo any day over a 3x 4mp anyday.

Anyone know how this camera compares to the Canon A70. I'm wondering whether to try and get one and they cancel my $256 A70 from Dell (that doesn't ship till late May). Thanks for the help!

it depends on what you intend to use it for. The canon offeres full manual focus, aperture, shutter. It also has much lesser noise at higher iso and also is a compact sleek package. The olympus offeres the versataility of the zoom lens but has limited low light abilities. its bit bulkier than the a70. there is a whole forum full of UZ fanatics ( me included) who will not consider a camera with any thing with a small zoom. it is really quite addictive.

I'm confused about this deal..it really isn't hot unless you got the mailed flyer. It requires the $100 coupon from a "Friends and family" mailing to work. Do people think they will use a printed out PDF file for the coupon?

The FW thread says you can get these flyers in-store (though, I admit, I've never seen them there)
