This is a factory reconditioned camera.
ecost.com

North Point Bay has it for $325 + shipping, but never heard their name, and it doesn't say whether new or reconditioned.
North Point Bay

Microcenter has it for $405.19 shipped and brand new.
Microcenter

I'm not sure which deal is the best.
Please let me know.

halik:

How did you get it that price? It's awesome deal!
Is it factory recomditioned one? Do you think it is worth to buy a refurbished or reconditioned camera with $70 discounted price?

well the cam had box and all, but no cables (display model or something). My cybershot has the same cable so it didnt matter to me. I cant tell any diff between refurb and brand new camera.

Keep an eye on returnbuy.com. They have the c-700 for $319.99 (Even cheaper on the ebay auctions they run)
Make sure you read the descriptions carefully with them though so you know what you're getting yourself into.
I got 4mpixel Olympus D-40 from them for $419 shipped with their 2 year warranty. I knew though that it wasn't in the original box and there were some scratches on the smart media door. They generally can be had new from a reputable store for $550ish shipped but only a 1 year warranty.
I figure I saved at least $100 and I get an extra year of warranty.

I went to bestbuy this afternoon to test C-700.
Everything was good except its electronic viewfinder and some blinks upon pushing shutter button.
Actually the blinks were not exactly blinks. It seemd like a kind of auto focus or auto exposure adjustment process. It went to darker and then back to normal in a short time. Is it normal operation?

I'm considering C-700 and Canon A40.
I like C-700's 10X zoom funtion, and I like A40's intuitive construction and cheaper price.
Which one do you guys like better?

when you push the shutter half way in (or all the way), it measures the light and adjust the aperture (in auto mode). it also focus on the object in center of the screen. Thats why the viewfinder went dark and bright.

I bought c700 because i wanted something with SLR viewfinder (you see what the lens sees) and aperture/ shutter priority. The only i dont like is the use of AA batteries. I would rather have rechargable nicad pack like my cybershot. Also the menu takes time getting used to, the camera has too many fetures...

My D-40 does that too. I guessed it was something like that. Thank you for confirming it.
I do tend to disagree on the AA batteries though. I can buy a 4 pack of 1700mah nimh aa's for $12. A second proprietary battery can cost $50 - $100.
My camera only uses 2 batterys so the extra 6 I carry around is 3 extra changes for me. I bought the maha home/car rapid charger and 4 batteries from newegg
for $30, and a pack of energizer 1700mah's for $12. I know that my 4 sets will probably only last as long as 2 or 3 proprietary ones but 2 - 3 proprietary ones will cost me $100 - $400. Ouch!

NiMH AA i have take too long to recharge. Cybershots nicad pack takes about 20 min and it keeps it alive for about 200mins continous use
