Olympus C-4000 + 64Mb memory for $299.99 at OM, YMMV

You know, with all these folks (both here and other boards) buying a D-550, and then buying the C-4000, with the intention of returning the D-550, makes me wonder.

How many thousand D-550's is OM going to have in stock this time next week? 😀

Tried one more time. I asked at the desk if they had D-550's and C-4000's in stock. The guy says they have 3 D-550's and 1 C-4000. So, I ask if it would be possible to buy all 4 of them and return the 3 D-550's (not intending to, just messing with them). The guy goes and gets the manager and I ask him the same thing. As I'm talking the first guy says, "Oh never mind, I looked again and we actually don't have a C-4000 in stock so it's a moot point".

Wow, it disappeared - funny how that can happen 🙂

I LOVE THIS CAMERA.

I took back the D-550 today to a store 50 miles away from the store I bought it from, and, put the other C-4000 on ebay. Already has bids -- $15 more than what I paid, not to mention I kept the 64meg smartmedia that was free with it! 😛

I'm expecting to make $70 on the auction, so my c-4000 and 144MB of smartmedia will be like $215 in the end.

RossMan, were you able to get a C-4000 ? I got the A40 for around $190, but couldn't get C-4000 ( both D-550 and C-4000 were OOS in my area) .
How is it gonna be as compared to the A40 ? I am drooling again...

I can alos vouch for the C-3000. The Olympus cameras are exceptional for taking quality pics.

Beware would-be buyers......using maximum settings on any 3 or 4 megapixel camera will eat up a smartmedia card right quick. Keeping it at 2mp is sufficient for MOST applications, unless your doing blow-ups or printing large pics for the wall.

I did the same thing in having OM order the camera from another nearby store. The fairfield, ca store had 12 in stock. I still get sale price too.

Well I found a good deal on some batteires and charger for my C4000z. SAMS has a set of 8 Energizer 1850MAH NIHM batteries with slow charger (15hrs.) for $19.95. They also have a fast charger (1HR.) with 4 of the same kind of Batteries for $28.00. I figured it was a better deal for more batteries. 1850MAH should last for about 400-450 pictures based on comments from www.steve-digicams.com.

Cool, I saw the same batteries at Best Buy for $14.50 for only 4 batteries. Exact same kind as what SAMS was selling.
