This Olympus 1GB xD picture card is listed at Fry's Electronics (So. Cal. ad) for $49.99. I thought that is a pretty hot price. I was excited to get mine at OD a few months ago for $59.99 (with a coupon). According to Pricewatch, the cheapest price listed for the 1GB card is found here for $74 with free shipping. This size card seems to hold a ton of pics. The one at fry's says "high speed". Can someone shed some light on this for me? Are these all the same speed? TIA.

My guess is that both Olympus and Fuji are oem part from Sandisk. That said, speed is irrelevant as far as brand name. I own a 512mb Olympus and it is fairly wicked fast for me. This price is HOT, btw. I may go for a 1gb this time.

Man, I saw a 4GB compact flash card in Sunday's ads. I forget who, maybe circuit city? It said that it was compact flash II, whatever that is. What I thought was unreal-- it said it does 1 hour of video. Never seen anything like that. It was made by Hitachi.

This thing won't work with my Olympus C750 zoom camera, but it will work with the 512MB according to Olympus. It's just say card error for me.

Just picked it up last Thursday at Fry's for my Olympus Stylus 410. Works great... Faster than the old 128mb Olympus xD I had, but don't have any metrics to show the specifics. If it really matters to someone, PM me and I'll do it.

Anyway, bottom line is it works nice for me, and it's a damn good price considering xD cards are normally about 10% or more $ than their SD and other mem card competitors..

Wow, this really is an awesome deal, right now it's listed on Outpost as $44.99 plus shipping (for those of us not fortunate enough to live by a Fry's : (

As for the difference between m-type and h-type (supposed "high" speed), here's a helpful quote I found from Steve himself at steves-digicams.com forum:

"Olympus/Fuji claim the H type cards to be faster than the M type. We did not see any real performance improvement in the cameras we tried them in and only a small improvement in transfer speeds when used in a high speed USB 2.0 card reader."

Fujifilm and Olympus designed and manufacture XD memory ASFAIK, but other companies like Toshiba and Sandisk are licensed to manufacture it.

For all the Olympus owners out there, my camera (don't have model # handy) would only take panoramic shots with an Olympus memory card. I couldn't believe it wouldn't work with another brand, although it says so right in the instructions So if your camera has some sort of limitation like that, then this is really a hot deal.
