Tell me again when people actually care about the olympics.

while i know few people care about them. I am very excited. i love watching armature wrestling and judo. I just wish it was on TV more. bah

I'm impressed so far. The only I'm getting tired of is that they keep showing the same HD commercial. It's getting old.

i double that motion.

c'mon suprnova. no way am i going to sit and watch this long boring show live!

btw, anybody have any idea how many people int he world were watching?

Is there any other event where this many people from different countries join together?

World Wars...

Sick. But O so true!!

rofl...sorry, i found that to be funny in a dark way. 🙂

but yeah, that flame does actually look like a joint ahahhahahaha.

and yes, i must say the archer lit of the flame in '92 was the best presentation of the flame being lit.

I captured it in HD, scaling/transcoding will take awhile.

EDIT: By "awhile", I mean a LONG FRICKIN' TIME. Possibly all day.

But I wish we had slightly less obnoxious announcers. Maybe people a little more informative, less propaganda, and a little more suave.

you're right. Katie Couric isn't exactly the best choice for hosting this. They should get someone specialized in world geography and affairs.

But she's soooooooooooo cuuuttee!!!!! 😀

It looked nice in HD, but did any HD viewers note any pixilation in fast moving scenes? Looked like either my local NBC, or NBC national was compressing the image a bit too much. It was like the compression you see on DirecTV HD, but a little worse.

Also, what is up with China "demading" that Taiwan call itself "Chinese Taipei?"

Except during football season, I watch less than 2 hours of TV a week. Sometimes I'll catch Nova and/or Frontline or other PBS show and double my weekly average. But for the next 2+ weeks, I'm going to be watching a lot of TV - I really enjoy the Olympics.

electrode i think you accidentally linked the torrent wrong, it ended with .avi instead of .torrent
🙂

what did you use to record and transcode?

To record: dtvstream -i /dev/dtv -o out.ts -c 7 -p 2 -m 304
To transcode: mencoder -ss 2170 -oac mp3lame -ovc lavc -lameopts vbr=2:q=0:aq=0:mode=0 -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq=4:vbitrate=1800 -af channels=2 -vf scale=-2:480 -o out.avi out.ts out2.ts

pcHDTV HD-2000 DTV card, big freakin' antenna on the roof.

The only problem I'm aware of is that the parade part "loops back" near the end, but finishes correctly. Also, there will be a 'jerk' during the break after the parade and before the Bjork performance. The last hour may be missing altogther, if it is let me know and I'll encode it seperately.

I KISS YOU!!!!! I didn't get a chance to see it.

I don't know if you heard it last night but the announcer called Belize and island. Come on now.:disgust:
