"Just caught the tail end of a news story on TV. If I understood correctly, they found out that the French Judge had in fact, been pressured to vote for the Russians or something, and is now suspended. And they're awarding the Canadians the gold next week....or something...I dunno someone clarify or tell me if I understood properly."
John John320, if you still care to verify: According to so-called news report, it is expected that Canada (waaaah waaaah) will "share" the gold. In other words, Russia gets to keep the gold whilst Canada obtains one . . . kinda like a pacifier so she stops crying. Here's the so-called news from an unidentified source: "Canadian Figure Skating Pair Get Gold - Source".
My favourite of all of those so-called sports during the Olympics is gymnastics. And I know very well that the judges are usually biased. But I know not to expect the best 'cuz that is the weakness of the so-called sport: It is dependent upon one's judgment which is realistically influenced by several factors. First off, there's human nature that is naturally biased in selection and taste. And then there's that tendency to use other factors, for instance, one's popularity, association, nationality, age, etc. I'm starting to lose respect for the Olympics if they continue along this path with so-called sports of this nature (e.g., diving, skating, gymnastics). It is not their job to intervene except in a grossly unjust case, which I submit to you this case does not measure up to at all.
