It's funny but it's probably true anyways. Money should be in the hands of the intelligent rather than the incompetent. If you're stupid enough to get scammed like this, the scammer deserves your money more than you do.

The majority or those scammed are the elderly, either uninformed or single or gullible.

Some of those are constituents of stupidity, yes.

Ignorance is not stupidity.

He did not say they are ignorant. He said they are stupid.

And I'm saying they are not stupid, they are ignorant.

You were implying that NanoStuff was implying that ignorance is stupidity.

No, I'm saying that the elderly are not stupid, they are just uninformed and gullible, in other words, ignorant.

Stupid: lacking or marked by lack of intellectual acuity

Ignorant: unaware because of a lack of relevant information or knowledge

When one makes no attempt to correct their ignorance and enters a risky situation despite this knowledge, they are being stupid.

How can they correct that they are unaware of?

Being aware of your ignorance in various areas is a basic part of functioning in society. I recofnize that I am ignorant about most things relating to vehicles, therefore I make no attempt to fix them. Stupidity (under the common definition) would be me trying to fix a vehicle while ignoring my ignorance.

Very good point, but I think the situation is a bit different for that generation.

While it is a bit different for the older generations, the same idea does apply. Sure, you can make excuses for some people, but not in most cases. We are all ultimately responsible for our own actions.

Unrelated example: I know that when my driving gets bad enough I will be signing my car title over to my kids/grandkids, giving them the keys, and turning in my license. If for some reason I become mentally impaired, then it is (in this order) the responsibility of my relatives or the state to limit my access to certain things (such as say, credit cards, car keys, etc) for my own good.

I saw some of those scammers in an interview recently and there's a whole culture in Nigeria that feels prood of taking "the white man's money".

Best of all, you'll soon be able to get your own OLPC in stores for about $400!

Sure... you're getting a laptop with hardware that was considered outdated two years ago. That's not the point! The real bonus is that joyous feeling in your heart you'll get from knowing that a portion of your money is helping poor Nigerian kids get their own OLPC's for porn surfing and 419 scams.

So are we going to get a real link to the story or is someone going to get warned for posting fake news?

Safeway, your starting to make PAB look normal at this point..First the bogus score on
this
thread and now another load of BS...please hand out shovels before future posts

Do people not read the threads?
You're using (AP) in your apparently fake title. If you want to be funny, don't be an absolute moron while doing it.

If I want to write a funny article and make it look authentic, then I will most definitely add (AP) and the location to the intro. Apparently you suck at the news writing.
